If you were to make a Zelda Spin-Off, what genre would it be?

Fighter. They have so many characters, that making one would be rediculously easy. Plus, Ganondorf would actually have ORIGINAL moves that pertain to his character.

A game in the vein of Phoenix Wright would be a treat. Link would hang up his sword and train as a lawyer, eventually defending clients from Prosecutor Ganon. There would be dramatic plot revelations, such as Zelda being revealed as an incompetent judge.

I think it would be cool if Agahnim or another mind-manipulating character was produced that put Castle town and/or Hyrule against Link and that Link would need the aid of special characters such as Malon/Talon to sneak into Hyrule Castle during milk deliveries, Impa/Nabooru for connections within Hyrule city, a few fighting comrades such as Kafei/Viscen, Telma's bar for a sanctuary/mission briefings, the Rita postman to deliver messages between members/co-ordinate mission execution, etc.

It would also make things more interesting if Zelda was manipulated herself and gave a direct order to her people to capture Link and his underground group of people instead of being captured and put in some stupid prison.

Not to mention you could also make Impa the secret 'traitor' of the group whose ultimate goal is to attack Hyrule Castle with her tribe of shiekah people (that didn't seem entirely trustworthy when you met them in the first place during the game) and either eradicate Agahnim/Save Zelda/Or destroy Agahnim's influence by razing Hyrule city, etc.

RPG, too, but I think a WRPG would handle Zelda better than a JRPG, although either could work.

I just want a steampunk setting, maybe a third-person shooter. Link has a gun of some kind, but he can also use his sword. There are still puzzles and stuff like that, of course.

In seriousness, a traditional fighting game would be pretty cool. I would totally kick Ganon's tail as Tingle.
Or a beat'-em-up, a la Final Fight or Double Dragon. This way, more classic Zelda elements could still be present.

Damn, I did put FPS twice. I probably meant to put Tactical Role Playing game since they're a favorite genre of mine and it isn't on the list.

MAN I FAIL HARD

JRPG is "Japanese Role Playing Game", like traditional Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games.

TPS is "Third Person Shooter", kinda like Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Extreme Action is like Devil May Cry and the games that copied it.

Visual Novel, I think is like that one Metal Gear PSP game that's like an interactive comic or something. I never played one but they're supposed to be unique experiences.

I could see a Mario MMO working but I don't think a Zelda one would given how Items like the Master Sword and Light/Silver arrows are ment to be one of a kind.
