New rumors about Zelda Wii revealed

More Zelda Wii Information Leaked? - Zelda Informer - Zelda News, Walkthroughs, Guides, Articles, Videos, and More

Quote:
We all know E3 is right around the corner and we are about to get flooded with more information than anyone can reasonably handle. That being said, sometimes it's fun to ponder on the rumor mill if for nothing more than to discuss the possibilities. If and when the information turns out to be true, it just makes things all the more fun. If it turns out to be false, it still was a fun discussion none the less. That being said, many of you remember the rumors we released back in January that surfaced at the japanese forum 2ch. Well, this time around, more information has been leaked from the same place.

Keep in mind these are just rumors, and are just as likely to be false as they are true. However, 2ch has a history of nailing many rumors right on the head, as was previously explained in January's Rumor Mill. Of course, not everything they say is true... but if they happen to be right about all of the current rumors, I swear I might be willing to father all of their children. So without any more delay, here is what was uncovered:

• Link will be replacing the bow and arrow with a crossbow.
• Game is all but finished. Putting on final touches.
• There will be a playable demo at E3.
• Time travel does occur and it happens through the use of a new blade. (not the master sword)
• Link's hometown is much bigger than in previous titles.
• There will be several "Majora's Mask" esque sidequests.
• Character interaction will be more involving than in any previous title.
• The dungeon field dungeon method is changed, and one of the changes confirms a straight dungeon to dungeon portion of the game.
• The current name of the girl in the picture is Adelle.
• Combat is extremely fluent and innovative. No previous Wii title can give you a good example of it's unique style.
• The game relies heavily on sword combat versus other items.
• There will be less items, but they will be used more frequently.
• There will be another main weapon added for an alternative combat style.
• The game will feature significant portions of flight.

So there you have it. This information was provided to us via email, and as such I cannot confirm the full credibility of the source. However, based on what the previous rumors were and what has been said in interviews in the last year, a lot of it seems highly plausible. We are currently digging for the exact quotes so we can get some re-translations to confirm. Are you excited yet? Zelda Wii gets officially announced on June 15th, 2010.
Sounds tight. I'm really interested in seeing how the swordplay works out. What do you all think? Do you think there may be any truth to these rumors?

I'm never sure what to think about rumors.

It'd be interesting to have another main weapon. Here's hoping for fists of rage and Moblin-felling jump kicks.

I'm not going to trust that article because of the apostrophe in "it's" and the misuse (or rather, not use) of the word "fewer."

See, grammar is important, kids. It makes you look dumb if you're bad at it!

That reads like a list of things fans want changed from the previous games, actually.

So...The Adelle is a Time-Traveling Sword?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Crossbows were abandoned for a reason. Why would I want to shoot a weapon with shorter range, less accuracy, and longer loading times than a normal bow? Sure, it's easier to learn to use, but that hasn't exactly been a barrier to Link in the past. (lol pun)

Other than that I wouldn't mind seeing most of those things in a game. Improved character interaction implies an end to not being able to say anything beyond yes/no, which is a change I'd love to see in all of Nintendo's games.

I do think this is a nerdgasm.

Upon further inspection, this is indeed a nerdgasm.

a crossbow would have more range and power then a bow the size of what link usually uses ian.

I think he's getting at the point that Link is a scrawny teenager/tween, and probably incapable of handling a bow of substantial power. At least, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

The problem with classic bows being that they are very difficult to use for a novice. Crossbows were invented as sort of a transitional weapon between the firearm and the bow, and was likely capitalized on in a way that allowed guardsmen who were not otherwise qualified bowmen to use it. It is also much more effective in close quarters, where a standard bow would be ineffective.

Keep in mind, I'm no expert and this is just my evaluation of why a crossbow could be more appropriate for Link. It's unlikely that early crossbows were nearly so effective as they could've been, in most instances.

I think he was trying to give us info about both weapons to scan over and debate. Also this gem:

Honestly, I hope the time-traveling thing isn't true, because I'd rather see something totally new and different rather than a 'new and better' variation of the same formula.

Also, I kind of liked the 'dungeon-field-dungeon' thing, especially [as in NOT oot] when the field is fun and exciting to explore. I mean, I even enjoyed OoT's, just because I got to ride around on my awesome horse. Also, it was a means of putting off the next dungeon, which is always fun.

Crossbows were less effective then Bows....

I ask again, how is any weapon with a trigger less effective then a Bow?

You guys think maybe that if they DO choose a crossbow rather than a bow, they might go with what TP did [and kind of OoT] and have a slingshot AND the crossbow? Like, slingshot for speed [and probably the shooting gallery thing, which they always have], and then your crossbow for pwning teh monstrarz with epic damage.

Maybe?
