Only one male is born every 100 years, and the rest of the Gerudo people are all women. This raises the question, "How do the Gerudo propagate?" Do the women just take turns boning their king over and over again until finally, when he's 100, one of the women will pop out the next male? Probably not. The gossip stones in game mention that the Gerudo women occasionally travel to Hyrule Castle Town to get themselves "boyfriends". Okay, so that way the Gerudo are able to keep their race going for a while without having to do the same guy for a century. Now, in the later part of Ocarina of Time, we find that several carpenters have been thrown in the dungeons of the Gerudo fortress (apparently they thought carpentering was boring and wanted to become thieves instead). Some might wonder why the Gerudo would waste their time and energy by putting the carpenters in individual cells and having each one guarded, when it would make more sense to send the lazy guys back where they came or just kill them. They do the same thing to Link if he gets caught. Why would they want to keep the men around? The answer: they were planning on using them as breeding stock. Aww yeah. |

Gender: Posts: 9,544 Thanks: 175 Thanked 150 Times in 120 Posts | Wow, talk about odd genetics, though I do wonder if there isn't some kind of negitive implacation about the Gerudo, granted they could be a more modern version of the Amazons. Though for whatever reason, the mostly female race, living as theives who have to at best recruit volenteers and at worst kidnap breeding stalk seems kinda off. However I've yet to play OoT some maybe the game explains things better. - You stupkid dog. |

Also, considering that males have a 50% chance of producing a "y" chromosome, the Gerudos would have to either have some sort of dominant chromosome that would cancel out the "y" chromosome at least 50% of the time, to make the Gerudo's normal "x" chromosome a recessive quality. -CSM |

Oh well, at least it has awesome music. :{D ^^ I tend to just be able to shrug off total 'wtf'isms like that when playing fantasy games involving magic and giant castles floating indefinitely over pools of lava. |

Humans can do it too, it's just that they need some complex machinery inside their hoohaa. The obvious follow-up question is how do the Zora do it? Truly, there be miracles all up in this *****. |

Children are not eaten until they are paired up with a mate, at which point this occurs and the males eat the females. True story. |
