It was fun for what it was. Then again, I was a mercenary, not a general. |

Never got through the whole thing, but for what it was, I had a good time. So, I suppose I'm not really an official player or anything :/ |

Every intricacy I added as the wars went on was more work, to the point where warmod updates were eventually taking well over two two-and-a-half hours to knock out. Hard to keep the enthusiasm up. |

You're always welcome around here, you know. Here's a picture I did for one of the HW threads that cropped up in the past few years: http://www.vgf.com/forums/879366-post9.html I've never been a player myself, but I actually found a few of Booyakasha's area names a bit inspiring. I also did some work by request of Crav for the independent HW board to help depict the races, since there was basically no official art of the cactus people from FSA. I think he left the community when they started making drama over including lesser-know races and creatures from the Zelda series. That's a bit of a hinging point for me, as well, since I don't see the OoT races or creatures as definitive Zelda. I tend to resent that title and its offshoots for eclipsing the original style of Zelda. Newbies bemoaning the older titles makes it worse. It certainly wasn't less popular at the time, with the first Zelda exceeding 6 and a half million sales on a much more limited market, and even the ill-remembered AoL selling better than the recent WW. That generation simply grew up before the internet community cropped up, unfortunately. Last edited by Cosmonautical; 08-07-2010 at 04:05 AM. |

The dark sombre look around it, i imagined that exact style of fortress for the Kokiri too with those lookout posts before and the pointy-log walls EXACTLY like you did it... that's beautiful. What are those white cloud like things in the background? During the battle of Kokiri Village (hw12) which i didnt fight in, i pretty much though of it being like that with the darkness except with giant black smoke columns rising everywhere and the background being a red hue from the fires and the transports over the river just like stalingrad. I didn't really post on vgf between 03 and 08 since when hw left this board in 01 i kind of went with it only posting a bit here and lost interest in games, but vgf really was my 1st internet home and i remember being on the battlefield boards nonstop (with that rapscallion GreatLuigi) and of course HW and how loony fun it was here so it's always about battling here , came back since it's fuzzy except a lot less traffic than before. Btw what was that independant HW board? I'm trying to find old hws so they can go up on the wiki and not be forgotten, i'ved used archive.org but it only gives fragments, the wars i had saved 5, 6, 7, i managed to copy from madgamers before it went down but at least they were still there a few years old without any wipes and for 11 KK had it posted on one of the newer boards. But i still wonder what went on in 1-4 and 8-10. There was a lore site from before made by Flames thats now down but had little descriptions and for those early wars it had something about someone taking potshots at UFOs (!) Try PMing Cravdraa about the HW board, I don't know it myself. He's mod of the VGF RPG if you need a link to him, his name should show up next to the forum on the index page. Click it, you'll get the options there. I always get you mixed up with Prince Toad, btw. Better than Luigi 64 and Super Luigi 64, though. |

I haven't been part of the HW community in a long time. I used to check in, but the site is gone now. It's certainly possible that it move to a different address, as I'm sure you know it's moved around in the past a few times. But interest in the games seemed to be dying, so it's possible it's just plain gone. I still know one guy that was more involved with the wars long after I quit playing, but I haven't talked to him in a while. If you'd like I could try tracking him down to see if he knows anything about it. |
