Obvious Things You Missed

...Left, Up, Right.

Zelda's Lullaby is a Triforce. I only realized this yesterday.

That's pretty cool. Chalk me up for never having noticed.

Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but I wish they didn't base all the music off the same scale just so they could use the Ocarina. It was a big turnoff for me. Really, that wouldn't be such an issue if they didn't try to base so much of the music off the Ocarina songs. Definitely needed much more minor.

Well, it took me a long time to realize the Old man's hints weren't totally worthless. Some of them were so cryptic, it's probably just my hind sight kicking in that I understand them at all.

I "missed" it by about half an hour, but in Wind Waker, the crazy language Valoo the dragon speaks ends up being the same as the crazy language the Deku Tree starts speaking to Link at first...which ends up being the same font as the signs in OoT. They're speaking Hylian.

I caught it when the Deku Tree corrected himself & started speaking the new language, which was about half an hour after seeing Valoo speak for the first time.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

The barkeeper in Twilight Princess is named Telma (Thelma). Her cat's name is Louise.

Did you get to a second playthrough on any file?

^No, I actually haven't finished the game yet (yes, I know on the 2nd round they're translated; no, I don't know what the translations are). Time has been a factor.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

If you look closely, you can see that Hylian script is just really fancy-looking Latin script.

Uuuuhhh that the giant flying palm trees in OoT's Hyrule Field are supposedly Peahats? I mean, I had no idea about that for years and years until AI told me.

Exactly.

And I suppose it's not something "obvious" that I missed, given that they don't look anything like peahats. They are giant flying creepy as hell palm trees. >:[

OH GOD. Those things weren't sooo terrible.

IT WAS THEIR BABIES.

Their freaking scary stalker-babies that didn't go away at night. D}:>>>>>>

----

Also, as I made a thread about awhile back, it took me like eight playthroughs to figure out that the beginning of OoT is a reference to Peter Pan.

It also took me ridiculously long to figure out that the Sun's Song is the little theme that plays on the field before the sun comes up. That's just sad, considering how painfully obvious it is.

I know there are more, just gimme time to think of them.

Oh, and AI, that video is 100% YES.

The Zelda in the painting on the wall of the Hyrule Castle remains in WW is the one from OoT.

Uhh, that's all I can think of for now.

The fact that they're way out in Hyrule Field away from everything somehow makes them even creepier to me.

Ganondorf is an ******* in OoT. I haven't been giving him enough credit. The way his *******ness reaches new peaks is so obvious and yet I never noticed it.

-Asks for Kokiri Emerald
-Poisons Great Deku Tree, who later dies
-Asks for Goron Ruby
-Blocks Goron's Food Storage (please note he did this with breakable rocks)
-Has monsters in said Food Storage (this is a problem)
-Asks for Zora Sapphire
-Messes with Jabu-Jabu
-Kills the King
-Attacks a kid with magic because said kid recognizes that Ganondorf is obviously evil (it's because he's black!)
-Takes over Hyrule
-Castle Town? What Castle Town?
-Has monsters occupy Kokiri Forest: kids are forced into house arrest
-Captures Gorons and plans to feed them to a dragon as an example to those who would resist him
-Freezes Zora's Domain...because. Apparently essentially killing an entire race isn't enough of an example, so he's still going with that aforementioned dragon-feeding.
-Leaves Gerudo Fortress...as it is. Nefarious.
-When Zelda reveals herself, he just uses some magic off-screen to encase her in a crystal. It's clear that this is "dickgic", special magic that powers off how much of an ******* you are.
-His hand literally glows with an awesome power.
-He tries to justify all of this in WW by going, "lol I so bitter!". I think he punches a few kids in the face minutes afterwards.

Oh, and the Spirit Temple segment can be considered the "light-hearted" part of OoT. After trudging through the Shadow Temple, bringer of "what the hell is this", you get:

-female ninjas who throw people into flawed cells again and again
-gay carpenters who want to join an all-female group of ninjas
-ninjas who want to use said gay carpenters as breeding crops
-ninjas who make their leader's nemesis an honorary member of their group
-Shiek's "disappearances" hits an all time low. I don't think you need a smoke bomb when there is sand blowing everywhere.
-sexual favors being promised to a 10-year old
-An Axe Armor who somehow doesn't have an axe
-Link watches Nabooru get zapped (nice guy)
-You reflect lasers at witches.
-Two old witches fuse into an busty, powerful witch. What.
-More Mirror Shield fun.
-Two old witches bicker about their age as they float to heaven. In contrast, Phantom Ganon was set aflame and sent to hell, all while clearly being in incredible pain.
-GHOST BLOWOB WOOHOO (actually you get the medallion instead)
-Nabooru regrets not giving you the favor anyway
-Zelda reveals herself, gets captured literally 5 seconds later

OoT Peahats scared the crap out of me as a kid, but I still knew they were peahats.

Well, I didn't know the name, but I knew they were the super-annoying flying things from the other LoZ games that you couldn't hit until they landed.

I was going to put this in the previous post, but this is some freaky ****

These guys are Ikana's Footsoldiers.
Wrap your head around that for a while, and consider the implications.
Spoiler Below
After some thought, I thought, "hey, they could be adults! MM reused a lot of stuff! And there's a giant guy who is a Captain!"
But then I remembered that the Stalfos were not among the reused enemies.
...then I realized why.

You know that weird stone shape thing at the entrance to Stone Tower Temple [with the arrow target on one of its weird eye things]?

When you flip it, you see it in a different view.

Took me forever and a half to realize it, but it's TOTALLY MAJORA'S MASK.

If I could find a decent not-blurry screenshot of it I would put it here but I can't.

---

Oh, and it took me RIDICULOUSLY long to figure out that the thing on Jabu-Jabus' headcrest is the Zora Sapphire:

And that the design on the Deku Shield is the golden part of the Kokiri Emerald.

None of this sounds especially grimdark, man. Oh wait, I thought you meant the one in the grave yard. That name "Spirit Temple" is always confusing. BTW, I didn't see Phantom Ganon being sent anywhere.
