Another thread about this?

Spoiler Below
Kind of unnecessary, but not really a problem.

Amusing. Aside from being ridiculously fake sounding, the video clip with it is obviously from an emulator. There's not color bleeding, no hue distortion, no rough interlacing - nothing you'd associate with composite cable. The texture smoothing algorithm is much nicer than the N64's. The color bpp is higher than the N64's. And it's been shrunk from a higher resolution than the N64 runs at.

The videos were more hilarious than creepy, IMO.

*sideways link bursts into flames*

Still, whether it be from creepiness or lolz, that is definitely a source of amusement.

You're a kiljoy, AI.

Of course, I also find it more hilarious than scary, since it's pretty much a video game Marble Hornet to a point. It's pretty inventive for what it is at face value.

Having slept in/near Indian graveyards and wandered by other graveyards in the dark, and then through cornfields in the dark...

I can safely say the whole 'haunted' thing is pretty silly. If I DID encounter anything, I'd just fight it off, anyway. 90% of Slashers seem to be weak to being set on fire and burned to death, anyway.

Hard to be a killjoy when the flaws to the story's "evidence" are the most obvious thing in the whole lot. Also, still needs more creepy. There wasn't anything that made me feel weirded out at all.

They'd get brownie points if the video weren't so LOL worthy. Someone was scared of that? What's next, he names one of his pokemon GRM RAPER and wets himself over it every time he plays the game?

But at least Link bursting into flames all the time is pretty hilarious.

I could probably write a more effective creepy-pasta about the Error hack for Zelda II, though. And it would be funnier, to boot.

OKAY GUYS SO I WAS LOOKING FOR GOLD ZELDA CARTZ ON THE WEBS RITE AND I ORDER THIS ONE FROM EBAY AND WHEN IT CAME A VAMPIRE WAS THE MAILMAN AND I WAS LIKE HOLY **** THIS DUDE HAS FANGS SO I STEAKED HIM BUT TOOK THE GAME ANYWAY AND IT WAS ZELDA II WHICH WAS VERY OMINOUS BUT EVEN MORE OMINOOS I STARTED TH GAME AND PICKED THE FIRST FIL AND IT WAS NAMED UR DED WHICH NEARLY MAED ME **** MY PANTS BUT MORE OMINOSU STILL WAS THAT LINK WAS GONE AND A MORBID OBESE GUY WAS REPLAECD HIM AND THEN I KNEW THAT HE HAD EATEN LINK

HERE IS A VID OF WHOLE THING CHRIST I COULD BARLY UPLODE IT I WAS SO SCARDE

YouTube - Zelda II: The Adventure of Error (Demo)

I dunno, I kinda like to see these types of stories, albeit with less THIS REAL PERSON DIED and jump scares. Kinda cliche and annoying.

The "You shouldn't have done that..." part was amusing. Would like to see that happen in sequence breaking.

^Well, there was that "Congrats on sequence breaking" message in Fusion. Someone could hack and replace that.

I liked it.

Whoops.

I did some more reading, as it seems some stuff has happened since last I checked. Having a window at my back is kind of a bitch.

Anyone who actually is frightened by this should go play some My Little Pony game.

^ That was more acknowledgment of the action rather than actually chastising the player for going against normal flow. Imagine, you exploited the wall jump bug in Super Mario Bros., only to find the decapitated body of the Princess a minute later. The music changes to a dark, depressing beat with minimum change in pitch. An 8-bit laugh from Bowser suddenly echoes as the Mario sprite goes to his knees and hangs his head in despair. Suddenly you realize Bowser only played fair because you played fair. If you broke the one golden rule of heroes and villains, he would throw honor our the door and destroy what you were looking for in the bloodiest way possible, then mock you for it. But wait, you can keep playing. What chance for? Princess Toadstool is dead. What reason would you have to keep going?

One reason and one reason only: Revenge. Suddenly the levels become a darker hue. The Goombas suddenly have red fangs, out for Mario's blood. Crushing one beneath Mario's feet would produce a river of blood. Koopas would actively pursue you, fierce determination in their eyes. No longer would stomping one force them to retreat into their shells. Instead, they merely shattered. As if their very existence shattered. Mario could not be slowed down. Enemies would at first bite his legs off, forcing you to use another life. Soon, while there would still be flying digital blood when Mario got hit, he could take more and more hits. Soon, Mario would merely slam the enemy away automatically. Falling into pits and lava would still kill Mario, although at this point they are hardly much of an obstacle.

8-4. The level has changed drastically. The walls are dripping with the blood of Bowser's troops. There are anguished crys as you navigate the enemy-less maze. You come to the bridge for the final confrontation with Bowser, and find... The Princess's head. He taunts you even further, even after damning his own troops to wander the afterlife, lost. Running across the bridge will reveal the horrible truth.

Bowser's dead. He's been dead for years. You, the player, suddenly realize that Mario has gone mad. Those troopas you slain? Innocent citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. There has been peace the entire time. And you wrecked the tranquility. The Princess was rescued a long time ago by Luigi. Bowser was forced to dwell in his castle with no escape.

So what happened? That wall jump Mario made didn't happen. He was put in a coma. When he finally awoke, panic set in when he remembered what he was supposed to do. Not caring about how long he was out, he charged after Bowser to finish what he had started. The body of the Princess? An illusion. The troopas? Real. Their bloodlust? It was Mario's own insanity. The many Goombas, Koopas, Lakitus, all those you killed were innocent.

The screen starts flashing red and blue. Law enforcement has come to take Mario. The plumber grabs a nearby Fire Flower and starts the animation for throwing a fireball, except it stays in his hand... and is aimed at himself. The music becomes an escalating scale of terror as Mario begins to tremble at the decision of whether or not to commit suicide. And then suddenly... nothing. The player is left to draw their own conclusion as the Game Over screen appears. All this... from exploiting a bug.

I dunno. The Ship Computer, after joking around for a bit, basically tells you to go get your **** done. Transmission ends, door ahead is still locked. The impression I got from watching videos is "go get the SUPERDUPERICE Missiles you sequence-breaking JERK"

Your, uh, example is pretty nice too.

It also sparks an unrelated idea. It'd be interesting if sequence breaking could let you look behind the scenes and dig into things the main story of a game wouldn't.

You could shine-spark into an area early and find a corpse that would, had you been following the slower "normal" route, been consumed by some animal or carried away by the enemies. This corpse, when examined, would give you information about an enemy, boss or area. Like, "Spying on these pirates has given me the information that Ridley usurped his position from another pirate many cycles ago!"

edit: ...I'd make it so corpses are bundled with items. You get there too late, you get no corpse, only an item.
