I couldn't stand Spirit Tracks, despite Zelda's big role. But yeah, since Zelda will be a childhood friend, I can almost guarantee that she will be in the game more. I agree with you, though, I'd love to see her in a bigger role than just Damsel. |

I thought it was in many ways a vast improvement over PH [especially with soundtrack, but also with innovation, especially with the possessing of phantoms in the Tower. I thought that was a great idea. Also the train was just fun]. |

That's how I read it anyway. Regardless, let us all promptly erase.... that game... from our minds, shall we? |

I mean, yeah, you're a bit restricted in PH with the boat, but you still atleast choose your own path. When I say you were Railroaded in the game, it ain't by plot so much as by literal Railroads. And that's saying something. |

The whole point of putting a game on literal rails is that you can control visuals from start to finish, in a way that lets you make every single thing in the game look extraordinary. ST managed to do very little, or perhaps none, of that. For a game that restricts control so much, it didn't actually use it to do anything. Game-design-wise they might as well have just given you a horse and carriage ala Twilight Princess and let you go and rub yourself on their tree-picture walls, cause they sure as hell let you walk right up to it in MM and OoT. They could've even been realistic and made the trains actually work on rails, so they've got their navigation element and speedy travel, but let you hop off and wander through the grass. That wouldn't have taken much. Last edited by Cosmonautical; 08-14-2011 at 08:42 AM. |

That was a horrible idea. I actually loved the tower [ESPECIALLY in comparison to the dungeon in PH], because controlling the Phantoms with Zelda's ghost and trolling the phantoms and not having a time limit were all really awesome. Agreeing with AI in that you should be able to get off of the train and explore. That would've been a nice extra. Although I'm obsessed with trains so I really don't mind the means of overworld exploration. I still don't really like it anywhere near as much as any of the other Zelda games, but in a lot of ways it felt like a huge step up from PH. It's much more enjoyable. |

I mean, it wasn't bad, but it was far from good.(keep in mind I have yet to play ST, but I've watched a playthrough, so I won't be saying every single bit) But yeah, the lack of any form of a Sandbox was in poor taste. Trains are cool(for some), but stopping to explore some of the overworld was all it needed.(and a flute that doesn't suck) |

They shouldn't have bothered with the lame "progressing to the top of the tower" theme, and should have split it up into different themes. Honestly, it's just a lazy programmer trick to re-use graphic elements and design elements while actually hyping it up as a feature. Imagine if they hadn't bothered with the different floors and had actually spent that time building 4 more themed locations and dungeons to go with them? Beside that, the combat was weak. Supremely weak and boring, like Diablo without mobs or spells or loot. |
