How Is Nintendo Celebrating Zelda’s Birthday? | Kotaku Australia

This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. To celebrate, Nintendo isn’t giving Zelda or Link presents. It’s giving you one.

Between September 28 and February 20, 2012, players can download a DSiWare version of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition, free of charge.

The game features wireless multiplayer and a new single-player mode. ~~The game was originally released on the GameCube in 2004.~~

Between October 3 and February 20, 2012, select retailers will also be offering special Zelda themed Nintendo 3DS Prepaid Card that depicts Link fighting Ganon. These cards, like so many things in life, are not free.

EDIT: The Kotaku article and reporter were confused and misleading. This is a special Anniversary Edition of the GBA version of the original Four Swords multiplayer game. It will contain new levels and a single-player mode, some of which is themed after various older Zelda games, which the GBA version did not contain.

If you have a DSi you can download the game.

You'll also need friends.
