A lot of people say that you should get a tattoo only of things that have deep, personal meaning to you. After all, they are permanent, and you don't want to regret it later. However, I've loved Zelda since my hands were big enough to hold a controller (maybe before). I've seriously been considering getting a tattoo with the Hylian crest: ![]() On my back. What do you guys think? Am I gonna regret this later, or should I go ahead and get a tattoo of something I love? Would you guys ever do it, and what would you get? |

If that's something you are seriously interested in, and have been for a while, I say go for it. I really do love tattoos (even though I still only have my small bat). The Hylian crest is a neat design, and I've seen some really nice versions of it. If you know someone who can draw it on you in permanent marker, see how you like it for a couple of weeks (it will need to be touched up every now and then, obviously). That's what I did before I settled on actually getting ink done, just to make sure I actually liked it on me all the time. ![]() |

That device in the middle under the triforce, the sort-of diamond-shape with two corners bitten out---is that meant to represent an avian torso and tail, making the entire design sort of a great bird displayed, with a triforce emblem for its head? Or does it rather represent a raptor's skull, making the design kind of the front view of a hawk stooping on prey, talons ready for the kill? Like, I ask because I'm not sure which we're supposed to see. The former seems a little silly; the latter, a bit sinister. Sorry. To answer your question, I honestly don't know if I can answer your question. Getting it on your back is less likely to cause regret than getting it on your arm or face, of course. I've never gotten a tattoo myself---doubt if I ever will. Maybe when I'm an evil old man who buries neighbourhood dogs alive in the backyard for fun---like, once you reach that age, it's only a matter of time before a torch-wielding mob bars your door and sets fire to your house as retribution for your many, many unspeakable crimes against God and man, anyway, so you might just as well go out raining curses on your foes' heads with some sweet ink as without. You know? Last edited by Booyakasha; 09-19-2011 at 10:10 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Sorry, I wasn't trying to tear down the design or say it's no good---I guess I just never tried to make visual sense of it before. |

Where the bird has a head and the Triforce is held aloft above it. But that's the beauty of things like tattoos; some people would never get something another person loves (case in point: my asymmetrical bat tat isn't traditional in anyone's book, but it's totally me). ML, you could always get a customised version of the image drawn up. AI's had a fair amount of experience making tattoo designs now (I'm pestering him to work on a new one for me, in fact XD). |

That is awesome, never saw that before. I like the half crest a hell of a lot more, now. |

And honestly, your back is probably the best place for it, if you really want to do it, since it's centered, large, flat-ish, & experiences less sag than the softer areas of the body do with aging. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

SD: I actually think I'd just rather have the plain design like the one I grabbed above. Simple and elegant, y'know? Boo: I always saw the former, but thank you for your alternate perspective. As soon as I saw it I was like "Dude!" |

I just haven't saved up the money for it and found a good parlor yet. I think it's BETTER to get a tattoo of something you've spent a good deal of your life on and that you love than something that's supposedly "more meaningful" but that you don't care about as much. Do what SD said and try it out for awhile. How long have you been seriously considering the tattoo? Like, not just playing with the idea-- for how long have you really thought about it as something you would want? Because if you've wanted it long enough without those feelings ceasing I think it's totally worth it. |

X) Plus, I'd probably be a total wimp about the pain in getting one too X) But there is a lot of neat symbology in the Zeldaverse that would make for good fodder for them, I'll admit. |

If you don't think so though, then more powah too yah. As far as regretting it because it's a Zelda tattoo? idk, if you like Zelda that much then nah, I dont think so, but that depends on what the tattoo is. Like something like the pic you posted might seem cool, but one of Tingle might not be as... Well-respected. ![]() This across your back and in your heart.
