Fan Theorizing is Fun

So just for funzies, I took a map of Hyrule and compared it to a flipped map of Termina [since Termina is kind of like a mirror world of Hyrule, I thought it might yield interesting results].

I found a lot of similarities in the map of Hyrule and the flipped map of Termina, and pointed them out as below, and made up a retarded fan theory because of it because that is always fun:

Discuss.

But the Stalchildren were fighting for the Kingdom of Ikana. Thus they would be the defenders...or something.

And that whole 'leave the forest turn into Stalchild' thing isn't true: you see Kokiri partying at Lon Lon Ranch at the end of OoT. You can turn into a Skull Kid (different thing entirely or maybe not if Val is right) if you stick around long enough in the Lost Woods though.

Also I think now, in Majora, Stalchild=/=actual child. Nintendo probably just reused the Stalchild models for the "haha look at this skeleton swinging from a tree" factor that a OoT Stalfos probably couldn't provide.

The kokiri partying at the end of Lon Lon Ranch was stupid x{D

Honestly, I'm more interested in the geographical similarities than anything else. I just had fun with it after that.

Well, Termina is stated to be a parallel world to Hyrule after all.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Deku Tree was lying to the Kokiri when he said they would die if they left the woods in order to protect them. I don't know where it's stated that Kokiri would turn into Stalchildren, but there was the one Kokiri who said that regular folks who ventured into the Lost Woods would turn into Stalfos.

Is actually that very extensive but impossible-to-beat-without-cheating romhack I played awhile back. Would recommend it to anyone with mad skills and a high threshold for save-stating.

^I'm interested.

I like the geographical aspects of your map there, CL. I never thought about flipping it before, but the "mirror image" concept makes so much sense.

I'm not so sure about your Kokiri vs. Gerudo thing, since (like X-3 said) I thought the Stalchildren were defending Ikana, not invading. Is there any confirmation on this one way or the other?

I thought it was that Kokiri would turn into trees if they left the forest, with that stump just past the exit into Hyrule Field meant to freak out the player.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Well, Aonuma did say that the Koroks from WW were meant to be what the Kokiri became after leaving the forest. So there may be some truth to your theory.

I never thought about the stump theory before but I LIKE IT.

About the War of Ikana, considering the fact that the castle is inhabited by Stalfos royalty, you're all probably right. I just liked the fact that the Garo, who inhabit the place most geographically similar to Gerudo Valley, also use a two-sword, annoying fight style, and seem to enjoy one-on-one duels.

^The Gerudo > Garo parallel could still exist. Save for your idea of Kokiri involvement, I liked basically everything you said about the war of Ikana and the pirates running away and stuff.

I've been replaying MM lately. All the game seems to mention about the Garo is that they were enemies of Ikana sent to spy on the kingdom in life, and now haunt the land where they were captured and killed.

This opened up a thought here, if the returned to the forest, would they become kokiris again, this allso would mean that the deku tree in WW isn't in the woods or didn't have to power to turn them back.

The impression I was given with the Kokiri/Koroks was more that the Deku tree could give them any form he chose. The situation in WW isn't that the Deku Tree couldn't give them that form, but more that the form of the kokiri were no longer suited to the new world.
I suspect that in OoT's time, it was beneficial to have them look child-like. It suits them because they really are children of a sort, and other races are far less likely to harm them if they pass through the forest and see a bunch of child-like beings, rather than a bunch of strange plantlike creatures that might even be mistaken for the move hostile Dekuscrubs.

In Wind Waker, times have changed. People are far less likely to intrude on the forest now that it's an island (and quite a remote one at that.) Their new forms allow them to escape easier if they do run into trouble, and more importantly, it lets them spread the seeds of the forest across the ocean, to replenish the trees and eventually increase the size of the islands in ways that their old kokiri forms never would have been able to.

Hey CL, have you ever read that crazy article about Majora's Mask and theories about the background of Termina, namely the Stone Tower Temple?

^ Yes. It's one of my favorites. It's kind of funny because I'm taking a religious studies class now and a lot of the interpretations used on stories like the Tower of Babel that we do in that class are almost exactly what the dude who made the Stone Tower theory used. It's pretty awesome.

I also never noticed the upside-down temple having a giant Majora's Mask figure in it, which is one of my favorite easter eggs in the entire game.

This makes me want to play MM again... next on my 64 ROM list x{D
