Ancient Cistern based on old Japanese short story

This may cause some spoilers for level 4 of Skyward Sword, but if you've played it, it's totally worth reading.

Omg. That makes so much sense.

Everything that previously seemed cool but random about the dungeon is now EXTREMELY AWESOME AND SIGNIFICANT.

Arrow

That's a cool story. We're totally a remix culture and this is a great example.

It also reminds me of the story of Kaguya-hime (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) elements of which has been repurposed a bunch in contemporary Japanese stories. I can totes see Zelda repurposing the story since the five impossible tasks involve item collection; just surround each item with a dungeon and you're set. And then Princess Zelda goes to the moon and then there's a fight with Space Ganon.
