We're totally a remix culture and this is a great example. It also reminds me of the story of Kaguya-hime (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) elements of which has been repurposed a bunch in contemporary Japanese stories. I can totes see Zelda repurposing the story since the five impossible tasks involve item collection; just surround each item with a dungeon and you're set. And then Princess Zelda goes to the moon and then there's a fight with Space Ganon. |
