Music that would fit nicely in a Zelda game

Every now and then I'll hear a piece of music and it will remind me of a bit of a Zelda game, or I think it would fit well as part of a Zelda game. I recently listened to The Violet Hour by The Civil Wars and it sounded like something that would sound nice playing in the Kakariko Graveyard.

Part of the association I'm making is probably the little two-sets-of-three-notes type intro that this song and many of the ocarina songs you learn share.

Anyone feel that way about any other pieces of music?

That song is absolutely beautiful. And yes, I think the two-/three-note patterns help give it that Zelda feeling as a lot of their songs have derived from that flow.

I love it, but I also think it's a bit too tasteful and subtle in comparison to the whole push towards "nonstop-dynamic-orchestrated" score that everyone proclaims better than the classic Zelda stuff. Personally, I think a lot of music from Skyward Sword is incredibly generic, despite being well-produced. Then again, I'm one of those folks that finds the lower-than-CD-quality sampling on the Wii to be painfully outdated, so I guess my priorities are different from the average player.

I love the Civil Wars, and the Violet Hour is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I completely agree with you.

^I am quite jealous.

There's some Fleet Foxes stuff where an instrumental version could work for Zelda. This one came to mind:

Reminds me of a Kakariko Village-type place.

That first piece is gorgeous, but-- and I agree with AI here-- really is too subtle to mesh with the kind of soundtracks the 'orchestrated' Zeldas have. I love it, and I definitely hear the "Zelda-esque" ness, but that much is true. I do love the Zelda soundtracks actually-- though not as much as other games on the whole-- but they do lack that subtlety and simplicity that this piece is just full of and omg.

that said i will be listening to it on repeat for the next five billion hours omg dat cello <333

^ I could see that, simplified a bit and obviously without lyrics, but still

^^I think that would be cool for one of the well populated islands of Wind Waker.

CL, if you dig that song, you should really check out the rest of The Civil Wars' stuff. That's their only instrumental track, but the rest is just as beautiful.

Lovely piece, DT... although I imagine it in my mind better suited to more of a cut-scene...

The song is very lovely.. I do love the Zelda soundtracks actually..it is nice to see a game that is not necessarily aimed at only tried-and-true Zelda fans.

I was thinking about Link to the Past music, but I feel like it should stay where it is. I really love Link to the Past music, however I am not quite sure of where it could be implemented.
