Dungeons are, no doubt, an integral part of every Zelda game. In fact, personally, they are my favorite part of each Zelda game. If a Zelda game has good dungeons, it makes up for a multitude of sins in my eyes (case in point: Skyward Sword). So what are your favorite dungeons? What game do you think has the all-star dungeon cast? I'd love to go on for quite some time about this topic, but I'm currently on a bus with rolling wi-fi and it kinda sucks. I'll do a long-winded response later, but as for right now, I just wanna say that a huge reason that Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda is because of its dungeons. Also, Link's Awakening just has a dynamite dungeon line-up. |

(except Forsaken Fortress. AGHHH) Dragon Roost Cavern will always be memorable for me, since it was the first dungeon I ever completed in a Zelda game. It felt unique to me, not only since it was my first, but it just contrasted itself a bit. One moment you were inside a dark, torch lit room and then you were outside, scaling the mountain. Tower of the Gods and the last dungeon were really fun as well. Maybe I just like towers. As for the other games, City in the Sky from Twilight Princess really brought out the developer's imagination. They had you swinging from one floating island to the next, riding through an airborne town, and an awesome boss fight to top it off. Arbiter's Grounds was one of my favorites as well. It felt somewhat more tense and dark under the circumstances. Skyward Sword had some that stood out, particularly Ancient Cistern and the Sandship. Awesome. |

Another epic SS dungeon was DAT BOAT. It not only had the timeshift stones, which were the coolest mechanic ever, but was also A FREAKING GHOST SHIP WITH ROBOTS. Omg. And that boss, albeit silly-looking, was fan-freaking-tastic. not really spoilers in either, just if you don't want to know about the nature of SS dungeons before you play it, I guess...? |

Lanayru Mines and Ancient Cistern in SS were pretty good. Sandship was boring and empty and the deck was the only interesting room. Oh and the final dungeon was a letdown. Fight me. edit: though actually the final dungeon had some good puzzles, the problem with it imo was that it was completely separated from the final fights. It also didn't have that epic, tense final dungeon feeling that literally almost every other Zelda game has. I coveted that feelings, I suppose. Last edited by X-3; 02-09-2012 at 10:32 PM. |

Works of art, really. Link's Awakening: Angler's Tunnel There was something satisfying about getting the Flippers in this one. The dungeon opened up, and you got to run free. Ocarina of Time: Forest Temple, Water Temple, Shadow Temple Each of these were themed so very well, and they all had some delicious twists in them (the Forest Temple quite literally!) Majora's Mask: Stone Tower Temple Such a fun little dungeon! I liked the duality of it. Oracle of Seasons: Sword and Shield Maze I liked the ice/fire duality of that dungeon. Oracle of Ages: Mermaid's Cave I liked the time travel thing mid-dungeon. Wind Waker: Dragon Roost Cavern, Earth Temple Both because they involved Rito. I can't help but be biased with the Rito. Minish Cap: Palace of Winds, Dark Hyrule Castle Flying was so much fun in the Palace of the Winds, and Dark Hyrule Castle was just so thematic and a bit frightening when you realize that you're stick in the middle of it after you get the Four Sword. Twilight Princess: Arbiter's Grounds, Snowpeak Ruins, Palace of Twilight The Arbiter's Grounds had the best item... which was just a shame that it was a one-off dungeon item really. Snowpeak again was thematically wonderful, something I didn't realize was a dungeon at first. And I love the Twilight Realm. Spirit Tracks: Sand Temple Finally! A difficult dungeon! Skyward Sword: The Sandship, Sky Keep Really, how can you not like these two? |

I mean, I really do like the design. I really, really do. And it's not even hard for me anymore because I've played it so much. It's just SO TEDIOUS. Dark Link is still the best miniboss unless you cheat with a Megaton Hammer |

A Link to the Past: Hard to say. Hera's Tower was pretty good(save the boss) Link's Awakening: I like them all. Best game ever. Ocarina of Time: Water Temple, seriously. Only one I found supremely alluring and fun. But I like tedious crap, so meh. Shadow Temple's second. Majora's Mask: Snowhead Temple. Oracle of Ages/Seasons: None in particular. I didn't like the first water-based one in Ages. The remake of Jabu-Jabu's Belly was pretty good. The Wind Waker: Hard to say, none in particular. They all rocked. Twilight Princess: Hmm... Desert one with Stallord. The Minish Cap: Temple of Droplets, baby. They were all good, though. Phantom Hourglass: None, I despise this game. Spirit Tracks: Haven't played, my reaction probably won't be that different. |

Dat block puzzle. Link's Awakening: EAGLE'S TOWER. love it. Ocarina of Time: Forest Temple. I think the music has a lot to do with it, but I really love the design, too. Majora's Mask: Stone Tower Temple. I don't know how I could refuse that brilliant upside-down design. Oracle of Seasons: Dancing Dragon Dungeon. I love the music and the minecarts. Oracle of Ages: Skull Dungeon, probably. I love the floor tile puzzles. Wind Waker: Earth Temple! I liked controlling Medli and the mirror puzzles were cool. Minish Cap: Palace of Winds. Flying was awesome! Twilight Princess: I'd have to say Arbiter's Grounds. I think maybe because it was like the Forest Temple... Skyward Sword: Sandship. C'mon, it's a pirate ship and you time travel. That's awesome. |

Turtle Rock was amazing, though. Has to be either the Shadow Temple or Fire Temple that I liked most in OoT. No arguing about Stone Tower Temple. Snowhead would have been more enjoyable if that stupid pillar puzzle didn't confuse me to no end. Infiltrating Forsaken Fortress the second time was much more enjoyable since there was no stealth also PHANTOM GANON BATTLES HOORAY I... think it was the... oh who am I kidding I can't remember any TP dungeons. ![]() |

The fact that you have to go allllllll the way to the bottom of the dungeon, only to hit a Crystal Switch... and then be forced to ascend back up to B3 just to go all the way back down to where you were is Level Design at its very best. Such a wicked little puzzle that makes all of these linear dungeons seem that much less spectacular. |

I adored controlling Medli. I actually liked most of WW's dungeons. I liked the stealth part at the beginning that a lot of people don't, I liked the temples where you controlled Medli/Makar, I really liked almost all of them. They all felt prettyy cool. I really liked a lot of TP's dungeons too, especially the Temple of Time. I really really liked that dungeon. Don't ask me why because I don't really know, I just... did. |
