DEPARTMENT--May 30,1999
Goldchen@hotmail.com--I
think that Nintendo 64 and PSX are basically equal, but I prefer
N64. No one is going to change the other persons opinion. If someone
has PSX then they will hate N64. And vice versa. The only people
that will give you a good honest answers are the people with both
systems. Here are my reasons for liking N64 better:
1.
Nintendo has more experience in the gaming industry.
2. Nintendo has a four player capability built in and they also
make good multiplayer games for it as well as good one player games.
3. Nintendo has a detachable rumble pack so if you don't want the
extra weight you can take it off.
4. Nintendo has the best game on your top ten games, and it has
been N64 for about the whole time.
5. PSX is on the top ten most wanted because no one has played the
game yet. And they have the top ten most hated.
6. Nintendo has more original games that aren't repeated. Some games
could go on as a series but not the same game over and over with
only different characters.
7. The nintendo controllers has an order to them so that new players
can remember the buttons easier. I could never figure out which
was circle, or triangle, or square, or x.
8. Playstation has a lot of publicity pictures like the ones they
put in magazines of Lara Croft.(Nude)

Taylorso@worldnet.att.net--I'd
like to respond to a entry (Ed: DANMONEY)
in last time's War Department.
<1.
Only 120 games out for the system. Also, only about 15 of them are
really good games.>
ONLY
120! Do you know how many that really is? That's plenty! Plus, probably
100 of those are good, quality games. Well, I guess everyone's entitled
to their own stupid opinion.
<2.
Not enough variety in their games. All either shooters or racers
(mainly).>
N64
has very few shooters actually. Also, most of the racers are original
(F-Zero, Pod Racer, Micro Machines), not repetative like PSX racers.(Ridge
racer and Gran Turismo)
<3.
No FMVs. No movies, what a RIP!>
WHO
CARES! I want to play a game, not watch a movie! All video's do
is make the game longer and more boring so that the company can
say the game is over 30 hours long to beat when only ten of those
hours are actual playing.
<4.
Game prices are way too high. Lowest is 50 bucks for a new game.
Playstations are only a max of 45 bucks.>
Ok,
I'll give you that. But I've seen PSX games for as much as $70.
<5.
The boxes crush to easily. Then when you try to sell it you get
less money because the box is crushed.>
Oh
yeah. You gotta worry about the boxes. The boxes are hell.
<6.
Longest game for the system is only 20 hours long. (Zelda 64)>
20
hours! Do you know how long I actually spent on that game! Metal
Gear solid was only 5 to 7 hours to beat.
<7.
Greatest hits games are a whopping 40 bucks compared to the 20 bucks
of Playstation's Greatest hits games.>
I'll
give you that one.
<8.
The only good multi-player games for the Nintendo 64 are Goldeneye
and Mario Kart. Thats all.>
WHAT!?!?
Are you insane! Star Fox, WCW/nWo Revenge, Vigilante 8, Bomberman,
NHL '99, NFL Blitz. And what does the (2-player) Playstation have?
<9.
The 64-bit processor still looks like a 32-bit processor in many
cases with Nintendo's games.>
What
do you think PSX has?
<10.
NO GRAN TURISMO for Nintendo! That really sucks because that is
the best racing game of all time.>
Great
Nintendo 64 racers: RUSH, RUSH 2, Beetle Adventure Racing, F-Zero,
Pod Racer, Mario Kart, DKR, Mirco Machines 64.... (3

Grtmilenko69@hotmail.com--The
people that make me most angry in the world are N64 owners, because
they all rely on a couple of games (Goldeneye, Zelda), which aren't
even as good as Playstation's best games, which are also much more
numerous (Resident Evil 1 and 2, MGS, Gran Turismo, all of the Command
and Conquer games, Grand Theft Auto, Tekken games, Legend of Legaia,
every sports game is better on PSX, and most of all, the best games
in the world, Nearly every Squaresoft game, like Final Fantasy VII,
Final Fantasy Tactics, Bushido Blade 1 and 2, Ehrgeiz, and Parasite
Eve). I realize that Command and Conquer and Resident Evil 2 will
be coming to N64, but without videos/CG sequences and the length
and in-depth qualities that they have on Playstation. A lot of N64
supporters also say things all the time like "Playstation has a
lot of games, but most suck", or something on that order, but most
N64 games suck, too, and when you have hundreds more games, with
about the same suck percentage, you ARE going to have more good
games. There are many aspects of Nintendo that are bad, such as
their obsession with cartridges, tons and tons of delays and promises
designed to keep people interested until their one attempt at a
good game is finished so they don't have people realizing that they
can't make games for crap. One other thing that N64 supporters are
so hooked on is that the have controllers that shake and come in
different colors, as if it makes the games any better, and even
if it does, you can get the same junk on Playstation, too. And what's
with the memory cards on a cartridge system? That's supposed to
be one of the main reasons for having cartridges, to be able to
save on the game itself. It's kind of funny looking in movie rental
stores since there are barely any games for N64, they get 4 copies
of every game to make it look like there are actually quite a few
games for N64. So if you're 4-8 years old, you can go invest your
money on N64 and get 4 neon colored controllers that you'll probably
never use and some rumble packs and some games meant for 3 year-olds
and have some fun! Just one more point, once Playstation 2 is released,
Nintendo is going to go down, even if their next system is just
as good, you will be forced to wait for a lot more time after PS2
is out before you'll get it, and you'll be stuck with the old 64
bit, cartridge using, money sucking, time wasting, piece of junk.
PS2 will also whoop Dreamcast and anything else Sega can hack up
in the toilet after they wake up in the morning. (3

jonas42@hotmail.com--The
Sega Dreamcast will be released with a great amount of games, many
of which will be great: Sonic Adventure, Blitz 2000, Blue Stinger,
Code Veronica, Hydro Thunder, and many more. It will cost just under
$200, the best price of a next generation system so far. It will
be very small and portable. It will run CD's, the decidedly better
format. It will have an analog stick. It will have D2. Is there
anything this system can't do? The Dreamcast will slowly gain support
and end up blowing PSX 2 out of the water. I have seen the future
of gaming and it's name is Sega. (2 Points)(+2

BstyBoys4L@aol.com--I
have read many of your postings that say N64 sucks and Zelda has
gotten to much hype but it was a complete let down. This mail is
to say YOUR WRONG.
Zelda
is a great game. It has all the good aspects of the original Zelda
(excluding sound) and even some more great things added to Zelda
64. This game has every thing good in RPG's and it has a great fighting
system. The targeting system is good to start off with and when
your use to that you can get good at regular battle. The story line
is a little corney but all of the games in the Zelda serise are.
The weapons are great and the equipment is great.
This
is not directed at all of the anti-Zelda supporters, nesicarily,
but one in preticular is grtmilenko69@hotmail.com. He is so unwilling
to try things. He played Zelda, at my house, for 2 minutes then
he turned it off be cause he was getting dizzy he said. The reason
he was suppostily getting dizzy was because he kept on tapping Z
and switching the camera angle. And just days before I said I didn't
like diablo and he said thats because you didn't play it long enough,
is that just a little hipicritical.
Now
for my defense of N64 in general. 64 has great games. Let me list
some of them, Goldeneye, Star Fox, Wetrix, NFL Blitz, Flying dragons,
Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, WCW vs.NWO 1 and 2, and Most of all
Zelda.
So
to wrap things up I just Like to say grtmilenko69 you are Wrong
(1 Point)(+1 N64)
klowny_69_@hotmail.com--Well,
just to say once more that PSX blows N64 out of the water. There
are many reasons why that is, and in this little contribution, I
will tell you all of them.
1)
PSX Has JUST as good graphics as N64 because they capitialize on
the chance to have 32-bit graphics, while N64 doesnt make all the
games to the fullest.
2)
PlayStation's sound it alot better (to me any way)
3)
PlayStation has a hell of alot more RPGs (come on nintendo, make
some good ones)
4)
PlayStation has well over 600 titles while the N64 is down lower
than 200, sheish, dont you want selection?
5)
The controller of PSX is better, instead of having 3 'prongs' it
has to, and humans (what we are), only have to hands, thus, it is
easier to hold the playstation controller.
6)
The PlayStation lets you play Audio Cds on it, does the N64 have
that feature, NO! That is a very good feature on PSX! {Editor's
Note: You know, this isn't mentioned much but it is true. One
of the ways I justified my PSX purchase to my parents {right after
I got my first job} was that I didn't have a CD player yet.)
7)
CDs are more compact, they can be stored more easily and they are
more convienent
8)
The CDs of PlayStation hold ALOT more info (6 times more info) then
the N64 carts.
9)
Some people say that the CDs are worse, because they can break,
well, who the HELL would be STUPID enough to break a CD? I have
never broken an Audio CD taht costs $12.00 let alone, a GAME CD
that can cost $50
10)
The price of the PlayStation games is more convinent. The N64 Best
Sellers are still $40.00 while the PlayStation best sellers are
around $20.00
That
about wraps up what I have to say about PlayStation being better
than N64!
Now
for the next generation Systems: I think that DreamCast will
sell the best, UNTILL Project Dolphin comes out. Project Dolphin
will kill the DreamCast and the PS2. Believe me. Nintendo has almost
endless possibilities with CDs. Their games in Carts arent good
because they dont have that much space inside so they are limited.
But I think that it will out sell the DreamCast and the PS2 in the
long run. The only way the selling will be slow is because the price,
well, who wouldnt have a high price when you have a DVD drive WITH
a gaming system. That is outrageous. I am not sure if it has a Modem
or what speed, but I imagine it will. So, all in all, I would reccomend
to not buy a DreamCast untill you have ProjectDolphin. This system
is truly a good one taht you wont want to miss. (4
Points)(+2 PSX)(+1 PD)
tchen@eclipse.net--I
think Nintendo 64 is better than any other game system including
the computor. Compared to Playstation N64 is a whole lot better.
I know a couple of people who have both systems and they say N64
is definitely much better. They like the RPG's but they beat them
easily and then get tired of them. Playstation has repeated so many
of their games that it gets boring. N64 has the four player jack
installed into it and so many games that are good have multiplayer
modes. The reason that Playstation looks so popular is because it
has been out longer and has more games that they make quickly and
mess up on. There are probubly over 600 PSX games out there. And
from those 600 there are only about 50 known names and 20 decent
games. N64 has about 75 games out there and at least half of them
are great.Playstation's games all have to use memory cards and the
price adds up. If you don't have a PSX memory card you would have
to play one game for a full day straight to beat it and then you
couln't get back there unless you played another 24 hours. N64 cartriges
don't get damaged as easily as CD's. PSX games get boring quicker
especially since there are so many cheep code for every game. The
controllers for PSX are expensive and the shapes on the buttons
have no order to it like the direction arrows on N64 controllers. If
you had a PSX 4 player jack there are only a few games that you
can play 4 players and they aren't very good. If you accidently
leave a PSx system on all day it burns the laser and messes up the
system, tat won't happen on an N64, I know. The N64 leaves room
for upgrading. The n64 games arearen't repetitive and thing can
happen differently especially multiplayer. There are also handicapps
for multiplayer. 64 compared to 32 bit. (2
Points)(+1 N64)
Insmdos3@ix.netcom.com--I
think N64 is the better because it has better graphics, they have
award winning games. Tell me what wuz the game of the year 1997.
Goldeneye007. Last Year it was Banjo-Kazoie best N64 game
wuz Zelda64. Playstation's was Metal Gear Solid which wasn't
that good. I thought it was fun but not as fun as Banjo-Kazoie.
This year game of the year will be and I garutee you it will be
an N64 game. If you disagree my E-mail is Insmdos@hotmail.com or
talk to me online as Insmdos1 on the AIM service the AOL gives (1

megaspider@yahoo.com--I
have a lot friends who own a PSX. I also have a lot friends who
own N64s. I own a 64. Think about it. Four controller ports compared
to two. Durable cartridges compared to flimsy, fragile, "handle
with care" CD's. Even my PSX friends can't beat the arguments my
N64 friends and I come up with. Of course, PSX does have more games,
but are they any good? The N64 has games like Goldeneye, Turok 1,2,
and soon 3. When I go to buy a video game, I look at the games for
some of the systems that I don't have. I don't even bother to look
at the PSX games anymore. I have never seen nor played a game that
has had my attention for than one hour. Dreamcast seems to have
some good games. Though I have never played them, the screen shots
I have seen look promising. I have nothing bad to say about Dreamcast, nor
will I have any until it starts to play a serious threat on the
best system of all time(for now). What I mean by "for now", is that
Nintendo will be releasing a new system soon and I expect it to
beat the N64; but neither Sony nor Sega can top Nintendo. (2
