MIDWAY ARCADE CUTS

Midway today announced that it has reduced its coin-operated video game work force by approximately 60 employees, or about 8% of the company's total employee base.

As with everything else where tech companies are struggling, the layoffs were made in an effort to cut overhead costs in light of current arcade industry conditions.

The cuts will not affect the company's console games division. In fact, Midway is actively seeking additional employees for its home video game business.
