EIDOS FOR SALE?

Eidos said that it has begun talks that may lead to an acquisition of the company by a larger firm.

Infogrames and Havas Interactive were named as potential buyers. As could be expected, neither company would shed light on the situation.

Another company mentioned as a possible purchaser was Microsoft, who could easily afford the price at which Eidos is valued. Following the recent purchase of Bungie (more), Microsoft already has some hot exclusives lined up for X-Box. Managing to add Tomb Raider to that list of exclusives would be a major coup.

A spokesperson for the company noted that no final plans have been made. They are simply considering their options, and an acquisition is one of them. More on this as it develops.
