SEGA AND MICROSOFT?
December 24, 1999
According to a recent rumor, Sega Enterprises' president,
Irimajiri-san, confirmed the existence of the X-Box by saying that
he was shown a demonstration of the system's capabilities.
At the current time, no information is known about
the X-Box. Moreover, Microsoft continues to deny its existence,
and Sega's ties to it, if any, have yet to be brought to light (of
course, Sega wouldn't mention this anyway, at least not yet). However,
it does bring to light a few interesting concerns.
We already know that the two companies have somewhat
close ties in some respects, which is a given considering they are
technology partners for the Dreamcast.
Is something more going on than meets the eye? Are these two cooking
up something more? Do Dreamcast owners have anything to worry about?
Or is Sega just keeping an eye on the competition? If so, why were
they the ones shown the system but Sony and Nintendo weren't?
Since this is all speculation, these questions can't
be answered... yet. Only time will tell, but things may well get
even more interesting in the near future.
