DOLPHIN 2001?

A few developers have reported that Project Dolphin will not meet Nintendo's current "projected" release date of 2000. Mention has been made of a "delay" to next year.

It should be noted that, while this is likely to occur (more information will follow when it's available), it shouldn't necessarily be looked at as a delay. Given Nintendo's history and recent silence, most people in the industry have expected that the system would not hit North American shores until next Fall.

The one territory that is still up in the air is Japan. While a 2000 launch is entirely possible, it may not be in the best interest of all involved, as it would likely mean a rushed launch.

Of note, if you're expecting a simultaneous worldwide 2000 launch, don't hold your breath. As VGF has mentioned before (more), the unlikelihood of this is very high.
