NINTENDO LATE AGAIN
February 3, 2000
Last month, Nintendo announced that it would
reveal more information about its Project Dolphin within 10-15
days. 10 days passed, and nothing - but most people accepted
this and waited. 15 days passed, and nothing - but then some
people got it into their head that it was 15 business days,
which is odd because this didn't really make much sense (but
Nintendo fans accepted it because they wanted more info about
Dolphin).
Well, 15 business days have now come and gone,
and it seems as the naysayers were right. Nothing new was
released about Project Dolphin at the recent event held by
Nintendo.
The best we can do is hope that this isn't a
sign of times to come. Nintendo
64 was significantly plagued by delays, and that has been
one of the biggest problems with the Dreamcast.
Are we going to see the same problem on Dolphin (and PS2 and
X-Box)?
So, what's going to happen? Nintendo had better
release official specs ASAP if they want to keep up with Sony.
Many people in Japan have already made a decision to purchase
a PS2, and unless Nintendo
acts soon, there will be no reason for many more of them not
to do so. If Nintendo doesn't release official Dolphin information
before the PS2 comes out or shortly thereafter, it might be
almost as bad as raising the white flag.
