NINTENDO ANNOUNCEMENT
THIS WEEK?
June 6, 2000
According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, sources
at Nintendo revealed that an announcement from Nintendo of
Japan regarding the launch of both Game Boy Advance and Project
Dolphin is coming this Friday. Nintendo did not confirm nor
deny the report.
While there is no estimated date on when either
system will hit Japanese retailers, both will be shown at
Space World this August.
Of course, we've seen scenarios similar to this
in the past. The first time was back at the beginning of the
year when Nintendo said it would make an announcement within
10-15 days and failed to do so. The second time was just recently,
when the company was reportedly going to make an announcement
and did not.
Bottom line: don't count on an announcement
this week. If it happens, there will be a lot of buzz about
it, but Nintendo's not going to speak until they're ready
to do so, even if that move is viewed as too late by some.
More on this as it develops.
