POKEMON BACK ON TOP
April 3, 2000

Pokemon Stadium has surpassed one million unit sales in less than a month on the market, making it the nation's best-selling video game so far this year.

"With Pokemon Stadium going platinum in little more than three weeks' time, it's clear that Pokemon is more popular than ever," says Peter Main, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America Inc. "Stadium opens an entirely new aspect of game play because Pokemon Masters can see the hard work they devoted to training Pokemon on their Game Boys displayed on the big screen in full color and full 3-D. And the phenomenon will only get bigger once the mania surrounding the collection and swapping of Pokemon trading cards jumps to Game Boy Color with our Pokemon Trading Card Game on April 10."

Nintendo also released a Limited Edition Pokemon Stadium Bundle set (yes, another bundle set) with an N64, two controllers, the N64 Transfer Pak, Pokemon Stadium, a Battle Guide, Pokemon poster, and a Wizards of the Coast Pokemon trading card. This exclusive hardware bundle is available for a MSRP of $149.95.

Pokemon Stadium is the second Pokemon game for N64 (following 1999's Pokemon Snap), and allows up to four players to battle in a free-for-all Pokemon tournament. Through the use of Nintendo's new N64 Transfer Pak (included) players can upload their Pokemon from the Blue, Red, and Yellow Game Boy games to the N64.
