CAPCOM, EA TEAM UP
February 16, 2001
Capcom Eurosoft and Electronics Arts today announced
they have reached an agreement that names Electronic Arts
as Capcom's European distributor. In the agreement, Electronic
Arts will handle the distribution of Capcom's PlayStation
2 products, Street Fighter EX3, Onimusha: Warlords, and others,
in all European territories outside the United Kingdom. The
agreement does not affect Capcom's existing agreements with
Titus/Virgin and Eidos, which currently handles the company's
PlayStation and Sega Dreamcast products.
"Capcom is extremely pleased to be working with
Electronic Arts as a distribution partner," said William Gardner,
chairman, Capcom Eurosoft. "EA's significant resources, professional
sales and management staff and their relationships in the
territories, as well as their excellent reputation as a leading
distributor in Europe, will assure Capcom's success throughout
Europe."
David Gardner, Managing Director Europe for
EA said, "Capcom is a leading publisher of content in interactive
entertainment. I'm pleased that we are able to work together
as they bring their considerable talent onto the next generation
consoles. Capcom is well known for their quality over quantity
approach and that makes us a natural fit. EA's distribution
infrastructure can be leveraged to our mutual advantage. I
look forward to playing our part in their continued growth
and success."
The newly formed EA distribution department
EAD will manage this relationship.
