EIDOS ANNOUNCES TIMESPLITTERS

Eidos today announced that it will ship the new game Timesplitters for PlayStation 2 in time for the 2000 holiday season. The company is teaming with Free Radical Design, creator of the Nintendo 64 title GoldenEye.

Timesplitters spans a century from 1935 to 2035. A group of human heroes and villains find they share a common foe in the title characters, an evil ancient race that manipulates the fate of humanity. The 1-4 player game echoes the action of Doom and has a simple mapmaker that allows players to create their own deathmatch levels.

"Timesplitters may well be one of the first great shooters for the PlayStation 2 game console," predicted Mike McGarvey, COO, Eidos Interactive. "We are confident that the combination of the programming talent of Free Radical and the power of the PlayStation 2 will put this game in a league all it's own."

Timesplitters is one of two PlayStation 2 titles announced by Eidos Interactive. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, developed by Crystal Dynamics, will be shipping for the PlayStation 2 early next year.
