Activision has confirmed today that it will
release Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, one of 14 games Activision
is currently developing for the PS2. Slater is working with
Activision to develop the title and is also a spokesperson
for the game.
"Our partnership with Kelly Slater over the
past nine months is enabling us to bring the ultimate surfing
game to market," states Ron Doornink, President and COO, Activision.
"The technological advancements of the PlayStation 2 computer
entertainment system allows us to recreate the dynamic wave
motion and physics that are essential to producing an authentic
surfing game."
Kelly Slater set a world record in 1998 when
he won his sixth world title. He first became the World Professional
Surfing Champion in 1992 at the age of 20, and then garnered
an additional five titles from 1994-1998, another record.
The game features multiple modes of play including,
Career Mode, Special Events, and Surf Trip. Additionally,
a variety of real surf moves, tricks, and events, licensed
boards, wetsuits, and clothing lend to the authenticity.
