Beginning October 26th, Blockbuster will offer PS2 hardware and software for rental in participating U.S. Blockbuster stores. In addition, there will be a daily PlayStation 2 sweepstakes giveaway through November 30th. Blockbuster stores will also be carrying an exclusive $20 PS2 special edition Blockbuster GiftCard.

"The PlayStation 2 giveaway is Blockbuster's way of showing that we are the ultimate location for interactive media enthusiasts, both in-store and online," said Steve Lundeen, vice president of interactive merchandising for Blockbuster. "Those winning the units will receive them soon after the nationwide release on October 26th.

"We have always tried to be a leader in the 'try before you buy' game rental category," said Lundeen. "Before spending up to $300 on a console or $50 for a software title, gamers can try it for five days for a small fee. Like our movie rentals, it represents a strong in-home entertainment value."
