GATES TO ADDRESS GDC
February 22, 2000
Miller Freeman Game Group announced today that Bill Gates,
chairman and chief software architect of Microsoft Corp.,
will address an audience of several thousand videogame developers
at the trade-only Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San
Jose, CA on Friday, March 10th. The presentation is expected
to focus on Microsoft’s commitment to the entertainment market.
"Having someone of Mr. Gates’ stature in the technology world
share ideas with the people behind tomorrow’s games is a significant
industry milestone," said Dara Gray, Associate Director of
the GDC and GAMEXecutive conferences. "Developers come to
GDC to review industry innovations that will lead to better
games."
Though it probably won't be known what the speach will entail
until it is made, early speculation indicates that Gates will
discuss X-Box, a system of which Microsoft has heretofore
denied the existence.
More than 200 speakers will take part in the GDC at the San
Jose Convention Center, March 8-12, 2000. Other noted speakers
include representatives from Sony Computer Entertainment America,
Sega of Japan, Walt Disney Imagineering, Hasbro Interactive,
Lucasfilm, and many more. Exhibits will reveal the latest
in tools, technology, and services for making electronic games.
