X-BOX GETS BOOST
May 13, 2000

How do you improve the most powerful system of the next generation bunch? Make it more powerful, as Microsoft did by officially changing X-Box's specs at E3.

The processor was previously expected to be 600Mhz, but Microsoft has boosted this to 733. To put it in perspective, Dreamcast is 200, PlayStation2 is 300, and Dolphin (where, oh where are you?) is expected to run at 400 (though Nintendo may well wind up bumping this higher after hearing what Microsoft is planning).

While there are a lot of pieces (games, developers, marketing, et al.) that Microsoft still needs to get into the X-Box puzzle before they can have a successful machine, technology doesn't seem to be one of them.
