RONIN, PCS TO X-BOX
July 25, 2000
Performance Capture Studios (an optical motion
capture company) have partnered with Ronin Entertainment to
produce the company's first X Box title. Production began
earlier this month for a 2001 consumer release. Motion for
the yet untitled game will be captured using the PCS proprietary
Bio-Mechanical Re-Targeting and Motion Editing Software. The
capture session will include the technology provided by strategic
partners AMD, Kaydara's FiLMBOX, Alias/Wavefront's Maya, and
Motion Analysis Corporation's Eva real-time MoCap software
and systems.
"Having created motion capture for Electronic
Arts, Midway, Activision and Sega, we are very excited about
working with Ronin Entertainment. Within the games industry,
finding partners with a vision and strategy to help the content
succeed is rare. Ronin is just such as company. Working together
as a team with Ronin by partnering the latest in MoCap and
video game technology will truly yield the next generation
action game," said Gary Roberts, CEO and President of Performance
Capture Studios.
"I am very excited to be working with PCS on
such a high profile title; we had our choice of facilities
and PCS was without question the right one for the job," said
Terrence Masson, Director of Development for Ronin Entertainment.
