I wasn't gonna say anything but I thought that blue visor guy's arm cannon was attached to his crotch/was a horse he was riding at some point.

I Googled the game to see if I could dig up some more info on it. The second result is a Change.org petition to have it cancelled.

It could be interesting, but I'm skeptical that this sort of game can work well with only one stick. Didn't see any indication that it was New 3DS exclusive during the conference or that it needed that weird add-on everyone forgot about.

So then I'd better use my computer chair for this one.

It's probably more like Metroid Prime 3 in control where past a threshold it just gets stuck on continuous rotation, but fine movements move locally (small movements control hand/head aim, past a point it rotates your body). Could go sour and not be like that at all, though.

I'm slightly more intrigued by this game after reading these quotes by Kensuke Tanabe in IGN. Maybe I'm only intrigued because of the blatantly stated intent to finally give some attention and backstory to Sylux, who I always felt was the most intriguing character in Hunters.

The way Nintendo referred to it as part of the "Metroid Prime universe" is a bit unfortunate, though. As if Other M was even good enough to wipe the Prime games out of Metroid's story.

It gives you the illusion of choice, only in real life.

So, after reading an interview with the producer, Tanabe, apparently you can control aiming etc with the New 3DS secondary analogue. He says he initially intended for the game to come out around the same time as the system.

His attitude is that the 'Prime' style environment will still be there. To be frank, the model detail I'm seeing is way lower than even the 3DS typically outputs, and the idea of playing co-op kind of contradicts that as well, so I'm definitely skeptical.

In the interview, they surmise that this will be a more action-oriented affair and their is no scanning as in the Prime games proper.

The interviewer also proclaims that there are 'mechs' in the game, although I think perhaps the translator or Tanabe has mispoken in referring to the Federation Marines' armor suits. Welcome to prove me wrong.

I actually saw this screencap which somewhat resembles a Prime environment (albeit primitive geometry) which makes me think that perhaps not all is lost:

If nothing else, Tanabe certainly seems to think players will need to become more familiar with the game to really get the Metroid feel from it, and states they're still working on the actual gameplay for the campaign which is why it was not playable on the show room floor.

Lastly, Tanabe's said that Samus and a certain angry space jellyfish will make appearances.
petitions on video games are so stupid
Why not a petition for more series-accurate visuals? Why not for better character design? I don't understand why you would want the first Metroid game in half a decade cancelled, if you want Metroid. They just need to work on it another year and fix up their poor decisions, increase the polycount and so on, like they did to Zero Mission. It also originally had god-awful sprite proportions which made Samus look like a reject from Notre Dame.
