NFL Pick 'Em: The return!/General NFL 2013 Discussion

Post by March » Sun Aug 25, 2013 11:43 pm

It's been a couple of years since this has happened, but I'm going to try and bring it back.

The rules are simple. You pick who wins each NFL game each week. The one with the best record at the end of the season, has bragging rights.

Week 1 matchups to be posted later this week.

Baltimore at Denver 8:30 pm
New England at Buffalo 1:00 pm
Tennessee at Pittsburgh 1:00 pm
Tampa Bay at N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm
Atlanta at New Orleans 1:00 pm
Kansas City at Jacksonville 1:00 pm
Seattle at Carolina 1:00 pm
Cincinnati at Chicago 1:00 pm
Miami at Cleveland 1:00 pm
Minnesota at Detroit 1:00 pm
Oakland at Indianapolis 1:00 pm
Arizona at St. Louis 4:25 pm
Green Bay at San Francisco 4:25 pm
N.Y. Giants at Dallas 8:30 pm
Philadelphia at Washington 7:10 pm
Houston at San Diego 10:20 pm

Denver - Who needs Von Miller? Or Elvis Dumervil?
New England - You could put me on the field and Tom Brady would get me the ball.
Pittsburgh -Not much to say here.
Tampa Bay - the jets suck more
New Orleans - wb sean
Kansas City - The Andy Reid era begins.
Seattle - Scam Newton and Pete Carroll? Excellent.
Cincinnati - Just not feeling it for the Bears this season.
Miami - Yeah, I dunno, Miami did make quite a splash with the Mike Wallace signing. But can Tannehill get it to him?
Detroit - Ponder is awful, Felton is suspended. This is a good chance for the Lions to steal one. This might be a homer pick.
Indianapolis - Hopefully Indy makes Pryor's life hell.
St. Louis - I think the Rams defense makes them just a little better.
San Francisco - This would make my life.
N.Y. Giants - This is a tough one. But I trust the Giants a little bit more.
Washington - A lot of QB rushing yards here...
Houston - Houston is just too good.

March: (11-5) (.68 8)
Panfan: (10-6) (.625)

c'mon, we need more people. you can still join. don't be shy.

N.Y. Jets at New England
St. Louis at Atlanta
San Diego at Philadelphia
Dallas at Kansas City
Miami at Indianapolis
Tennessee at Houston
Washington at Green Bay
Cleveland at Baltimore
Carolina at Buffalo
Minnesota at Chicago
New Orleans at Tampa Bay
Detroit at Arizona
Jacksonville at Oakland
Denver at N.Y. Giants
San Francisco at Seattle
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati

New England - I'm sorry, but the Jets are still awful.
Atlanta - meh.
Philadelphia - dat offense
Kansas City - upset special?
Indianapolis - Luck.
Houston - a little surprised that Houston had to come back to win on Monday night. Tennessee should be an easier opponent.
Green Bay - if RGIII looks as bad as he did on Monday, this should be an easy win for the Pack. it hurts to say that.
Baltimore - gotta be thankful for playing the Brown this week.
Carolina - Cam will put up more than 7 points this week.
Chicago - Da Bears
New Orleans - wb sean, part ii
Detroit - Carson Palmer will put the pass defense to the test unlike Ponder, but Mendenhall is no AP.
Oakland - hmm, Pryor for another 100 rushing yards? I sure hope not, but Jacksonville is kinda dreadful.
Denver - how many more TDs for Peyton?
San Francisco - Man, this is a huge game. I think Kaepernick has better weapons, so I give them the edge here.
Cincinnati - Pittsburgh starting 0-2? Yikes.

Houston
Green Bay
Baltimore
Buffalo
Chicago
New Orleans
Detroit
Oakland
Denver

March: 11-5 (22-10) (.68 8)
Panfan: 10-6 (20-12) (.625)
SML: 9-7 (9-7) (.562)

Hmm.

Kansas City at Philadelphia
Houston at Baltimore
Detroit at Washington
San Diego at Tennessee
Arizona at New Orleans
Tampa Bay at New England
Cleveland at Minnesota
N.Y. Giants at Carolina
Green Bay at Cincinnati
St. Louis at Dallas
Atlanta at Miami
Buffalo at N.Y. Jets
Jacksonville at Seattle
Indianapolis at San Francisco
Chicago at Pittsburgh
Oakland at Denver

Philadelphia - I suddenly like this team a lot. Having Vick and DeSean might have helped a little this week.
Houston - Nothing too witty here. Should be interesting to see Ed Reed's homecoming assuming he plays.
Detroit - RGIII looks human. Skins start 0-3.
San Diego - oh hey dere Rivers.
New Orleans - I bet Garrett Hartley's field goals don't get blocked.
New England - Brady should be thankful for such a soft schedule to start the year. If Gronk comes back, he'll have a big day.
Cleveland - This defense is better than people think. If they can shut AP down, they win this game.
N.Y. Giants - Dat Panthers offense
Green Bay - Ugh, this kills me.
Dallas - Meh.
Atlanta - Also meh.
Buffalo - sry sml
Seattle - blow out.
San Francisco - Good bounce back game for the Niners.
Chicago - This CFL coach dude is going to start 3-0. what?
Denver - Terrelle Pryor might make this game interesting. Otherwise, why are the Raiders on MNF?

New England
Cleveland - Minnesota starts 0-3; seeks an actual quarterback
Giants
Green Bay
St. Louis
Atlanta

^Done. Results coming momentarily.

March: 8-8 (30-1 8) (.625)
Panfan: 6-10 (26-22) (.542)
SML: 7-9 (16-16) (.500)

Pretty rough week.

San Francisco at St. Louis
Baltimore at Buffalo
Arizona at Tampa Bay
Pittsburgh at Minnesota
N.Y. Giants at Kansas City
Indianapolis at Jacksonville
Seattle at Houston
Cincinnati at Cleveland
Chicago at Detroit
N.Y. Jets at Tennessee
Washington at Oakland
Philadelphia at Denver
Dallas at San Diego
New England at Atlanta
Miami at New Orleans

San Francisco - So many people calling it quits on San Fran. Way too premature. They'll come back.
Baltimore - yeeeeeeah
Arizona - Mike Glennon plz?
Pittsburgh - Minnesota blows.
Kansas City - Dem Giants
Indianapolis - 0-16 Jaguars?
Seattle - Seattle is too good.
Cincinnati - The battle for Ohio.
Detroit - I think we have a shot here. Especially since it's in Detroit.
Tennessee - How are both of these teams 2-1?
Washington - Nope. Oakland sucks. RG 0-III becomes RG 1-III
Denver - Can't be stopped
Dallas - Don't blow this for me Romo.
New England - If Gronk is back, he has a huge game.
New Orleans - and the wheels fall off the Miami bandwagon.

Bye: Carolina, Green Bay

**** the NFL is weird this year

SF - The 9ers haven't started off hot but Rams are definitely beatable
BAL
ARI - The Bucs are almost as bad as the Jaguars.
PIT - Pittsburgh's pretty bad this year, but they're not Vikings bad.
KC - lolgiants may be the new loljets
IND - The Jaguars are soooo baaaad
SEA - I just hope Marshawn Lynch can be more part of the domination this week. Need more fantasy points from him.
CIN
DET - No stupid penalties and they can do it. Burleson's out but Bush should be back. Stafford needs to keep doing what he's been doing, be smart with his passes. Gotta be prepared for that Chicago D.
NYJ - I'm actually picking the Jets right now. I can't believe it.
WAS - It's not RGIII that's the problem with the Redskins; it's the atrocious defense.Look at how good they make Joique Bell look.
DEN - Dat Manning
SD - I dunno I just hate the Cowboys
NE
NO - I'm not gonna say that the Miami bandwagon is dead. They're gonna lose, but it's gonna be against the Saints in New Orleans, which is definitely an acceptable loss.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

Burleson's been a big part of the Lions' early success this season, and his presence will be missed, but I don't see it being a dealbreaker. Obviously we still have the best receiver in the league with Megatron. Pettigrew's not the most reliable receiver in the world, but he's still good for a few completions, as is Scheffler. Bell is incredibly capable at both rushing and receiving, and Bush should be back this week as well. With Stafford throwing like he is right now, I see no reason to worry just yet. Though this is the Lions, so I could be completely wrong. I just think the Lions have bigger problems than the loss of Burleson: i.e. play calls and discipline on defense
