5K

Post by The Missing Link » Sat Nov 02, 2013 8:57 pm

So have any of you done 5K runs before? I'm on my third time through the Couch-to-5K program (and hopefully it's going to stick and become habit-forming once I'm done this time!), and I'm having the time of my life. I used to HATE running, but I find that I actually really enjoy running and that it makes me feel super awesome once I'm done.

I've run two 5Ks in the past with my personal best time being 39:45. I've just finished week 5 of 8 in the C25K program, and right now my estimated 5K time is going to be sub-35, which is my goal this time around.

I did one a few years back and got either 42:something or 45:something. Probably not really indicative of anything either way, because I spent the first half trying to stay with a group of people who were much slower. It's definitely something I'd like to do again and actually try, but I haven't been able to do any since then.

My knees are too wrecked to even consider taking up running without a very, very good reason (read: there isn't one). I know a lot of people who are really into it, mostly because they feel great afterwards and need to be conscious of their fitness. Always good to find something that works for you. :D
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.
