I just couldn't get into D&D. Is it because I played it by myself?

In my opinion, yes.

A large part of D&D and most tabletop roleplaying games is the shenanigans a group of people get into and how they try to get out of it. Roleplaying is a big part of those games, after all.

D&D by yourself is kinda pointless imo since 95% of the fun is how everyone interacts with each other

D&D was never intended to be played solo.

BotW is like a beta for a Zelda/Skyrim mashup that doesn't capture the strengths of either game but is kinda fun for what it is.

wait that was last page

agreed about d&d

all the best moments from when i've played have been interactions as a group and problem solving together

If you want to play D&D by yourself you're probably better off playing a CRPG. Or FFI or FFV.

I would like to get into D&D, and I know of a group that plays in a public place in a nearby town, but like. I don't know them, so I would feel really awkward playing with them.

You have any game stores near you?

I played D&D for a short while. It was great until the DM threw a temper tantrum because a) two of our party members just didn't want to play that night and b) the rest of us didn't want to play and get our characters killed due to being understaffed (and the DM didn't even attempt to scale for the reduced number of players). The jerk stormed off and still blames me and another one of the players who didn't want to lose our characters.

It sucks. He took the little beginner's guide I had too, and there's no un-awkward way to ask for it back.

I could assemble a team to lift it.

I have an abundance of candy to snack on, but nothing savory or salty.

The "public place" in question is a store that sells D&D, MtG, and other tabletop stuff, but I don't think that really solves any problems.

I made a little more progress on Bloodborne. I managed to open the gate that’s by the first lantern.

I'll never get the appeal of extremely difficult games. I mean I understand it but that's just not an interesting style of gameplay to me. Maybe a co-op game but otherwise, nah. That's kind of an issue in BotW, I shouldn't be wrecked for exploring just because I run into **** that one-shots me.

Difficult games interest me because they serve as a nice challenge to overcome. BotW isn't a difficult game.

I love challenging platformers because of the sense of accomplishment after I overcome something difficult. Difficult games are all about achievement. And X-3 is right about BotW.

Every bit of progress I make in Bloodborne feels like an accomplishment. That's why I keep playing even though I keep dying.
