Got any hopes or predictions?

All I'm really anxious for is some more info about Metroid Prime 4.

Cyberpunk is the obvious one. I don't know if we'll get a full reveal, but something beyond that teaser from years ago would be nice.

My other two biggest hopes were Pokemon Switch and a new Elder Scrolls, but both of them have seemingly already been dashed for this year.

Almost all of the sequels I thought would never happen actually did in the last few years, so now my wishlist is left with silly stuff like Metal Arms and Skies of Arcadia that are obviously never happening. So I'm pretty much in it for new surprises this year. And I guess I'm pretty interested in The Last of Us Pat 2 now that I finally finished the first one.

The EA press conference was incredibly mediocre.

I think Anthem has potential to be pretty good, even though it's very Destiny-y. Battlefield V looked fine. The building destruction was cool. I never played the first Unravel (heard meh things about it) but the creator is so wholesome and good. Sea of Solitude's looks really interesting.

But as far as presentation goes, it wasn't a great show. A ****ing mobile MOBA game (how Command & Conquer has fallen...) got perhaps the most gameplay footage of anything else. The reveal of the Respawn Star Wars game was awkward as hell. EA milking applause from announcements like "no lootboxes!" is horse ****. Then you had the weird Q&A session for Anthem, and they didn't show much gameplay footage of it (and it was all at the tail-end of the Q&A session). The sports stuff was standard fare.

Everything seemed safe and predictable, with the presentation of those safe and predictable things relatively botched. Throw in a more surprising announcement (like a Skate 4) and you have at least some buzz. This fell flat. Not a great start to E3.

I missed the first half, but yeah, Sea of Solitude was the only thing that looked interesting. I don't have much confidence in Anthem given that neither Destiny has been able to hold my interest through even the prologue, and the trailer didn't do anything to convince me it'll be better. Went to go make brownies when they started the Q&A session, and I'm pretty confident I had the better time.

Well, I don't know about buying a XBox but those were some good games. No rampage from me.

Welp, I'm not sure how anyone could realistically top Microsoft this year. I've got to imagine Bethesda and especially Square have something crazy for their own conferences considering how much they let MS show, but even if their announcements are individually bigger, it's gonna be hard to get anything close to that volume. Ubisoft's usual fake chat cringe aside, they had my attention for pretty much the whole thing.

...but everything they showed off is also on PC, so they're still not selling me an Xbox.

Microsoft's show was impressive. I feel no need for an Xbone still but that was a good showing with lots of games and lots of diversity. Plus it had Battletoads.

Missed out on Bethesda so I'll have to check that stuff out later.

They have officially announced TES 6 hallelujah, it was only a short teaser, but honestly just knowing it's being worked on at all is more then enough right now.

Some cool stuff, though not a whole lot that appeals to me.

I'm eager to see more of the new Doom game though.

For the first time in my life, I have a current-gen console while it's still popular, so the Switch Direct presentation is relevant to my interests.
Kyle Orland is gonna liveblog it here.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Bethesda's was good, but it felt like every announcement I cared about had a "yes, but" attached to it. New Fallout? Yes, but it's focused on multiplayer. New Prey DLC? Yes, but it's focused on combat, which was that game's weakest part. New ES game this year? Yes, but it's primarily a mobile game. New IP maybe next year and a real new ES game after that? Yes, but the teasers told us basically nothing.

The Skyrim joke was pretty good, though.

Bethesda pretty much threw out all their IPs into something this year, even if it's for quite a ways off. Not the worst idea but that also means that people are going to notice how long it takes these games to come out.

Also, METAL WOLF CHAOS IS BEING RELEASED IN THE STATES NOW! PREPARE TO FIGHT FOR AMERICA MOTHERF**KERS!!

Didn't watch Square or Ubisoft, but the former was apparently mostly just repeats of things they'd already shown at other conferences. Ubi had a fun Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer that didn't really say anything about the game and apparently the next AC is going to be an RPG in Greece. Both seem promising, but I feel like I've said that about something at Ubi's show at almost every E3 only to end up losing interest by the time whatever it is comes out. Here's hoping those aren't just Ubisoft Game: Space and Ubisoft Game: Greece.

Sony's was great in mostly unsurprising ways. TLOU2 looks like TLOU2, and I'm okay with that. Gameplay looks maybe a little more stealthy than before, but the early trailers for the original were misleading in that regard, so who knows. Ghost of Tsushima looks extremely promising. Death Stranding is predictably weird. Resident Evil 2 made me groan at zombies until I realized it was RE2, which gets a pass.

I'm actually hoping a lot of these things end up getting delayed or it's going to be completely impossible to keep up with all the big Q1 2019 releases.

If Sony doesn't have the awkward intermission to change venue or set up or whatever the hell that was, it's the best show by far

They may have really focused on four games but the other trailers they showed all looked cool too. TLOU2 and Tsushima look phenomenal. Death Stranding looks weird as hell and like that's its main appeal so good on that. I need Spider-Man this moment.
