Some of you may have known that most of the creative team behind Banjo-Kazooie formed a company called Playtonic Games and were working on a spiritual successor to the aformentioned game with the working title "Project Ukulele".

It was revealed today that the name of the game is Yooka-Laylee, as well as showing off the designs of the titular characters. There will be a Kickstarter for the game tomorrow, May 1st.

Not a huge fan of the characters, but I like what I see of the world design in the background.

Never played Banjo-Kazooie, so can't say much more than that.

I can definitely see the Banjo-Kazooie there.

Can't wait to see what comes of this.

They just chose two new animals, put them in the same stance, and somehow made it look more cartoony. It feels fun but cheap, like Mighty No. 9.

...man.

I mean, there's a stringed instrument in the title. Are they not even trying to differentiate this from 'Banjo'.

Considering they're literally advertising it as "Banjo-Kazooie again, made by the guys who did Banjo-Kazooie" I don't think that distance from the original property is very high on their priority list.

also: their kickstarter is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pl ... rare-vival

its only been open for about 20 minutes and they've already almost hit their initial funding goal

There should be an ounce of originality, shouldn't there. A creative spark. Otherwise why the hell bother.

What kind of dweebenheimer wants to play the exact same game over and over again. What kind of terminal dorkasaurus wants to make the same game over and over. This is stupid. I could just go play Madden. Ugh.

Unfortunately I don't even see a drop of originality, let alonne an entire ounce. I'll reserve total judgement until playing (IF it ever hits consoles).

I'll take a look at it whenever it comes out, but so far, not a fan.

Sounds cool. I'm interested in seeing where their gameplay philosophy stands now.

That Kickstarter happened.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pl ... ero_thanks

It's already doubled its goal.
During their adventures Yooka and Laylee will complete challenges to unlock and collect Pagies. These golden collectibles are the main currency in the game, used not only to unlock new worlds but expand them too.
huh

EDIT: Best me to it. Can't believe it met its goal in under an hour.

^That's not surprising. Loads of people have wanted a return to this kind of gameplay for over a decade, especially from the people who did it best.

I'll admit to being a little concerned about this game trying too hard to be Banjo-Kazooie instead of establishing its own identity (even the characters' respective genders are the same), but I'm gonna remain optimistic that more details will surface that show off the character personalities more and distinguish itself from its predecessor.

Already nearing local co-op mode. I might back this in a couple weeks.

Although I'm still waiting on my Brawl in the Family collection and Chasm full game Image

Wow. I only just discovered this, but it is one of my most highly-anticipated games. I can't really see this going wrong.
