The Winter Olympics are right around the corner. What are some events that you are looking forward to the most?

I personally hope to catch some of the hockey this year. Hoping Canada falls flat this year. (not likely)

Can't wait for this. Pretty much anything the Aussies are in but especially the freestyle snowboarding.

I'll probably try to catch the hockey and snowboard/ski cross. The Winter Olympics have far fewer events I care to watch, but those three are all awesome.

Can't wait for the Winter Olympics...

...or as I like to think of it, Nine Different Kinds of Going Downhill, plus Figure Skating and Curling.

I love the Winter Olympics and am looking forward to whatever coverage we can get. I especially like the luge, bobsledding, anything downhill and well, everything. The more pictures including snow, the better. ;) :D

I watch the Summer Olympics more than the Winter, mainly because, other than the bobsledding/snowboarding, there's not much I like to watch.

^ summer is sooooo much better than winter. I like curling and hockey but that's basically it.

i mean winter olympics don't have synchronized swimming so it super sucks

^Basketball is hyped to some extent, and the soccer competition is fairly big in other countries even though it's U-20. There's also any sport the US happens to have someone amazing for, like swimming for the last three. I don't know exactly how any of those compare, but they are hyped.

there's nothing in summer that compares to hockey but as a whole i like the events in summer more than the ones in winter

also olympic basketball doesn't even come close to comparing to olympic hockey when it comes to hype, because America kicks everybody's ass every single year. With hockey there's more than one team that's actually good.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

I watched the opening ceremony with my family tonight. Had to rewind at one point when I thought I heard something familiar to confirm that I heard it, despite the Today Show hosts' sucktastic commentary. I did.
They may not have done any reference to Tetris or "Korobeiniki", but they did pull out one of Russia's other greatest hits. (This vid is from a non-NBC broadcast, so it doesn't have Meredith Viera rambling incoherently.)

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Yeah, the asshats at NBC ruin the opening ceremonies every time.

They were seriously beautiful though.

I saw the opening ceremony as well...and the incredibly beautiful landscape montage that came before it.

Man, those Russian mountains would look cooler if I could sculpt my face into one of them with some chisels and dynamite.
