^All true, but you're forgetting that football is struggling at the peewee level because of parent's concussion concerns and also the rapid demographic shift towards a more Hispanic US. It won't happen overnight, but I'd be very surprised if the sports market hasn't shifted massively in 30 years.

There's waaaay too much money in it.

Brazil 1-7 Germany

Schuerrle and Kroos score braces, Klose becomes the all time leading scorer at the World Cup, and Brazil's 40 year streak of competitive victories at home ends decisively.

The Brazilian fans deserve a lot of credit for seeing the game out and even clapping for German goals, though. It's rare to see that in any sport when the home team is this thoroughly demolished.

That was called rape. The Germans better watch out because I'm sure the authorities have been notified.

Until Mueller inevitably smashes that title, anyway. He's at 10 and hasn't even finished his second tournament.

I was worried he'd do it today and make it awkward.

Argentina (4) 0-0 Netherlands (2)

This game was mostly boring for 120 minutes. The shootout that followed wasn't, in part because it was a seminfinal shootout, and also because the Dutch used their last sub to take Van Persie out, forcing Cillerssen to stay in goal this time. Sneijder and Ron Vlaar (a defender) had the misses. Argentina converted all 4 they took, although Cillerssen barely missed the third and got both his hands on the fourth.
