Re: WoT 363 is ready to celebrate CHRISTMAS
Listening to the Undertale soundtrack lately, just on a whim. That game...that game is really good. And I'm sort of re-discovering certain music tracks I've forgotten about, or haven't fully appreciated. I know Bergentrucking/ASGORE is very popular, but for some reason it really only just struck me how brilliant of a song it is. Also, "Here We Are" isn't the most listenable song in the world, but it's so perfect for that part of the game and it's very musically interesting.
And I'll never understand why "Battle Against a True Hero" doesn't get all the glory that Megalovania or Hopes and Dreams get.

I have heard it argued that Megalovania is self-plagiarized basically.

I really like the way the composer made a few themes then a bunch of variations. Like, it's done in such a way that you really have to listen actively to notice.
Also, initial dungeon theme is dopeeeee

I still haven't played Undertale. Not out of some sort of hipster avoidance; just let it slip by me, and I already have a massive backlog.

Undertale's real good. Idk how much you know about it, but I'd recommend going in cold, if you can help it. Then once you beat it, start digging deeper.
It's very short, as far as RPG's go. 8-10 hours probably.

Re: WoT 363 is ready to celebrate CHRISTMAS
I always thought Battle Against a True Hero was on par with those personally. Maybe it's because a lot of the fandom hates the genocide route?
Also if anyone doesn't have money to buy Undertale I once again recommend Doki Doki Literature Club. It's free, only like 6 hours, and does some of the same interesting things Undertale does and I basically love it for the same reasons I love Undertale. Also this game will destroy your life and mess you up emotionally in every possible way. It has a great soundtrack too.
It's weird because Megalovania is now a song that everyone knows now from Undertale and I'll never be able to think of it as anything other than "Vriska's song from Homestuck." And no one even knows what that is any more.Random User wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 10:21 pmI have heard it argued that Megalovania is self-plagiarized basically.

I think the Hiveswap game has renewed interest in Homestuck recently, actually. I should play that.pixelated_penguin wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 11:32 pm

I made it to the part where they started introducing the trolls and gave up on Hometale.
I also tried (and failed) to beat genocide run Undyne for UN and her husband once, if that counts as playing Understuck.

Re: WoT 363 is ready to celebrate CHRISTMAS
Yeah, Hiveswap is one of those games that's on my own "I need to play this at some point" list. It'll never be as good as homestuck was at its peak though.
I miss Homestuck. I really wish I got the chance to cosplay for it when it was popular but I've never really cosplayed or gone to cons before anyway. I still have a gold-spray-painted 2x3dent collecting dust in my room in case I ever have the effort/courage to do male!feferi sometime.
I read the whole thing but honestly I sometimes encourage people to quit the comic at the end of act 5 flash and pretend it ended there, even though some parts of A6 were good.

Yeah I have my own gripes with how the story in Homestuck was presented, especially towards the beginning. I quit reading Homestuck like twice before I got back into it and finished reading it.

Re: WoT 363 is ready to celebrate CHRISTMAS
Despite being regularly on the internet since 2001, I somehow managed to be completely ignorant of Homestuck's existence until maybe 2-3 years ago when AJ started cosplaying things from it. It was like I fell into the Upside-Down and there was this whole labyrinthine fandom existing beneath me the whole time that I somehow never saw.
