Confirmed returning: Shadow Moses, Pkmn Stadium, Garden of Hope, BRINSTAR DEPTHS, Summit, Unova League, Magicant, Gamer, Fountain of Dreams, Saffron City
Revealed new: New Donk City Hall (w/Pauline's band), Dracula's Castle (w/candlesticks, bosses)
103 total stages, w/NONE unlockable
ALL STAGES AVAILABLE FOR 8P
Stage morph option: Random or Pick 2

FEATURES:
My music returns: Any song from a series can be used on any stage from that series.
Nearly 900 tracks
Separate jukebox mode w/playlists, can become "mp3 player" of sorts in handheld mode w/screen off
Can save custom rulesets, rules chosen before stages chosen before characters chosen
Stamina now a standard option like Time or Stock
Sudden Death zooms in continually
FS meter: Maxing it out allows a weaker version of FS (multiplayer only, probably not 1v1?)
Squad Strike mode (MvC style or team)
Tourney mode back (32P max)
Smashdown (used fighters vanish after each fight)
Graph paper training mode stage
Classic: Each character has specific opponent sequence

ITEMS:
New ATs: Alucard, Zero, Knuckles, Krystal, Kapp'n, Klaptrap, Chef Kawasaki, Gray Fox, Nikki, Shovel Knight, MOON, Bomberman, Rathalos (also as stage boss).
New Pokeballs: Aloan Exeggutor, Abra, Solgaleo, Lunala, Mimikyu, Pyukumuku, Vulpix, Aloan VUlpix, Marshadow, Ditto
New Items: Banana gun, Bomber (Kirby series), Killing Edge, Death's Scythe, Staff, Ramblin Evil Mushroom, Rage Blaster

COMMENTS:
Kind of annoyed that there are now more FE characters (7) than LoZ characters (6), & they're literally ALL sword users, with 4 of them all based on the same core (Marth, Echo Marth, Fire Marth, Echo Fire Marth).
Also not happy that your Classic opponents are fixed per character. I thought we left that crud behind after the N64 game.
Everything else is pretty awesome.

^Thanks for the comprehensive list.

Honestly super psyched about the Castlevania reveal, I had it spoiled for my yesterday via some leaks but the trailer still got my hyped for it. Only problem; NO GIANT BAT. How could they forget Giant Bat? It's okay, Flea Man being in Smash makes up for it tenfold. I'm probably only ever going to play as Richter though.

K. Rool was a fun addition, too, one that I called happening right after the Ridley reveal. There was no way they wouldn't add him. Now all they need to do is add Waluigi and the trifecta of most-requested Smash inclusions will be complete.

Chrom is cool, but not as cool as Dark Samus.

The menu looks sooo much better than the absolutely god-awful Smash 4 menu. My only problem with that is that it still says "Games & More" for one of the selections. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO VAGUE. Oh well - the blurred out menu option has me excited because I keep thinking it'll be a new story mode. I hope so badly that it is.

i dont know what you're on about, having matchups tailor-made to the character you're playing and giving context to them is actually really cool. besides this game's gonna have like 80 characters; you're not playing classic more than once for most of these characters anyway.

it's a shame that there are so many songs to choose from and yet i'm making sure that the stage plays "pitch-black intrusion" 100% of the time. that song SLAPS

also i'm way overdue for another Dawn of Sorrow playthrough.

Fire Emblem has a very diverse cast of characters and I think Sakurai may have to come to terms with that, ML

What are you talking about Capt? Fire Emblem is known for having swords and just swords.

Magic? Axes? Spears? HORSES?!?! Literally never happened in a Fire Emblem game.

I'm a fan of FE and completely agree with Capt that only taking sword users is stupid. Any game can be improved with naginatas.

I agree with what you guys are saying, it would be cool if FE got more diverse representation. But Lucina is an echo fighter of Marth, while Chrom is an echo fighter of Roy. Then there’s Ike. Then, meanwhile, Corrin has a lance and Robin has magic, so the “only sword users” thing doesn’t really make much sense to me.

I’m not even that big into FE, but the current roster seems just fine to me. I mean yeah, having Hector with his axe would be cool, but is it that big of a deal?

^Roy is also a clone of Marth, though.
It's not even just swords, it's Marth. Ike & Robin & Corrin all have swords, but they're different character bases.

I was actually really excited when I saw Chrom use Aether, 'cause I thought it meant he would be based more on Ike instead of Marth. Then the official statement came out.
