Remembering people's names.

What's your trick to remembering people's names? Do you have anyone that you honestly think has a different name than the one they are generally called by and mistakenly call them that, or go to call them that?

I admit it... I'm pretty average when it comes to remembering names of people I just meet or haven't seen in some years!! I also get 'confused' when I meet siblings and I'm introduced to them together... I'll often mix their names up or resort to a mash-up of their names if I know them well enough... "John-Peter" (yes, it's now a standing joke that I can't tell them apart even though one is 4 inches taller than the other and they have different shades of brown hair. Bah)

What about you? Got any tips to help...? :D

For meeting new people I make sure to repeat their name as much as i can while talking to them without trying to come off as weird doing it

I remember names and faces right off the bat so I got nuttin'. I'm just annoyingly awesome like that.

(In reality, it probably stemmed from my love of movies and remembering the names and faces of every actor/actress - so maybe that's why I'm so good with both names and faces?)

I don't have any tricks, but I should probably learn some. I'm absolutely terrible with remembering names.

Repeating the name as soon as they introduce themselves ("Alicia, good to meet you!") and then again when you say goodbye for the first time ever ("See you soon Alicia!") is the best trick I know. Really helpful with first-time visitors at church.

Most of the people I meet are new employees at the store, and they all have nametags. Makes it easier.

If I don't remember someone's name, I will occasionally come clean and plead for forgiveness. More often I'll just cheat. If anyone's noticed me calling these million billion once-removed cousins 'tiger' or 'kiddo' or 'man-cub' or 'poppet' or something more often than their proper names, they haven't called me on the carpet for it yet.

I don't meet new people, and if I do I just try to dodge forever so I don't need to remember their name.

I don't really have to do much. Once you tell me it's pretty much logged for future. I only forget your name if you barely make an impression on me or it's in passing.

I've always been curious what kind of store you run Boo.

I remember faces and interesting things about a person instead of names, unless the name is really, really unique. I'm much better with faces than names.
Do you know how much you mean to me
Why must you leave~?
